I'm assuming you came on this board to post your war porn and then troll someone like me with your Oliver Stone propaganda. But I will bite.

South East Asia did not fall to the communists because resources were going into Vietnam by the Russians and Chinese.

I'm not going to defend Nixon or the shite head Kissinger, Chicken shite politicians or the spineless who protested or fled to Canada.

Vietnam Veterans should take heart in the fact that their efforts were not in vain, and they answered the call of duty in a noble cause despite epic strategic mismanagement.

ETA: And your post should read hey Comrade what picture should we show to disparage the US war effort, you posted the top nine.

My dad was a WWII vet who fought in Okinawa, he never talked much about the war, and he especially forbid us from watching the news reports from Vietnam. This was the only report I ever saw as a kid.

Read someone mention Hamburger Hill above. Lots of reunion events going on at Ft Campbell this week. 50 years since the battle. I’d have to choose the napalm girl. The ARVN soldiers are fairly nondescript and could easily be US troops a few years earlier or French if 20 years earlier.

It's pretty rough, but it's also obviously very one sided. I could feel every Asian and European staring holes through the back of my head while I was in there.

Well I can attest to the latter. I can't get one arm in that cammie blouse. It's like a XXS size.

The burned naked girl has to be it. You got burned naked kids screaming and a soldier nonchalantly getting out some chew all in one pic.

Says alot.

It doesn't say much about US involvement, as the strike was by the VAF and the troops there were ARVN.

It is. Charlie getting his head ventilated is second, IMHO.

The American people by then were not up for that, though.

When Walter "Pinko" Cronkite, the "most trusted Commie" on American television told them the war was lost, yeah, they sheepishly lost their taste for Victory.

America actually entered an entirely new phase then(with Cronkite surrendering on behalf of the country). If it wasn't for the space program, I think we would have folded before Reagan turned things around.
