I’d want Animal Mother in my squad for sure.

Yeah the dude getting shot was a POS Viet cong who had just been caught killing women and children IIRC. And yes I know we had POS on our side who did the exact same.
What a fricked up war. Stupidest American foreign policy blunder (not to mention domestic) and not even close.
We had no business being there.

Yes he did. He slit the throat of a S. Vietnamese officer, his wife and kids too. Guy certainly had it coming.

Ut's "Napalm Girl", Adam's "Execution" and Browne's "Burning Monk" are the three that come to mind without even seeing your list.
While technically not a picture of or even during the US involvement in Vietnam the Monk has always been the most powerful photo of the three for me. It always represented a time and a place to me that could produce a level of resolve in a human that I could not begin to fathom. It foreshadowed a level of determination and metal that we would have done well to see.

The Odd Angry Shot is an Australian movie about Vietnam. One of the better films about the war.

It's very powerful, but most Americans had never heard of Vietnam when this occurred. Like you said, this photo was taken prior to the Vietnam War.

If that’s not a redemption story, I don’t know what is. Take that Jamie Lannister.

Cool that you call it Saigon like some of the locals and southerners. Watch out for those motorbikes.

I don't know if I would consider her's a redemption story as she had nothing to redeem herself from. It is more of an overcoming adversity story with a healthy dose of forgiveness.

Most all of those are pretty powerful.

Yeah, apparently the guy getting shot in that photo was accused of just murdering a South Vietnamese Lt. Col. and his family.
I think people were freaked out by it because the guy was a Viet Cong fighter in civilian clothing. Most people tend to not look at context so they'd probably assume it was just some random civilian getting shot, maybe?

When I was at LSU I worked with a guy who was a chopper pilot in Vietnam. He always told me the ROK and Australians where some of the most bad arse troops he ever was around. They did not play.

I particularly enjoy that picture because I know the background to it and because well...frick Communists.

While that is the image that first jumped to my mind before I ever even clicked to open this, there are others there that are just about as iconic. It's not a run away win for napalm girl.
