Im not taking anything away from lifting, I do as much strength training as most of you guys are doing too, but doing no real conditioning just seems like you aren't maximizing your fitness
I have no interest in competing in triathlons and the such.
I’m in it for the pump. I started lifting to impress chicks. Now I could give a frank about girls, it’s about two things.
1. Hitting a new PR - I’m not enhanced and I’ve been lifting long enough that new PRs are hard to come by.
2. Getting a skin-splitting pump that mentally turns me into Zyzz. Arnold was right, it’s like cumming all the time.

Im not poking fun, but being able to bench 500, but not walk up two flights of stairs doesn't seem to have much utility.
I'd rather bench 315 and be able to run a 21 minute 5k too
If you lift weights, get enough sleep, and eat right minor physical activity as you suggest should be without issue
Not to mention all cardio is is keeping your heart rate above a certain amount for a certain period of time (and not that long a period of time), this is often times something that can be achieve by "just lifting"
most people could literally give a frick about running a 5k and would say "what is the utility in that"
Eat right, sleep right, do an activity..your heart and lungs will be fine

Some dudes just wanna be big.
There’s no real practical purpose anymore for being able to run a 4 minute mile.
You can still be healthy by eating right and lifting weights with light cardio.

Being strong is fun, healthy, and practical
But yes, people should do at least a little cardio

Most dudes I know that lift don’t even do sprints.

True, but Is it really practical to spend 5-10 hrs a week in a gym getting strong? If you aren’t doing blue collar work, how often does brute strength come in handy?

You should read the studies on all cause mortality and quality of life on lifting

Right, but I would consider those health benefits

Moving. Doing yard work. Looking strong and scaring off would be attackers. Helping someone out of a wreck. I mean, is there any negative whatsoever to being strong af? You can be weak and have no cardio. Might as well be strong and have no cardio if you're not gonna do cardio anyway.

Not needing to ask for help when moving heavy stuff is pretty handy.

My yard was muddy so instead of backing my truck to my boat I just drug the trailer 40 yards to the truck so I wouldn't rut the yard up.
Had a pretty good sized tree fall on my house a while back. I was able to cut it up and get it to the road without killing myself. I have decent cardio strength but lifting logs in to a wheelbarrow took brute strength.

It's a blessing and a curse, because you're always the first one people think of when they need heavy stuff moved.

Hey now, put some respect on that. We were doing a 5k under 18m

I will put it like this..in no situation I have faced in life I said to myself "man, if only I were weaker." You can add that to any part of life not just physical strength but my point still stands.

So I’m newish to lifting. And I literally sit and talk to people all day.
I was never able to stick to just plain old cardio because it bored the hell out of me.
I’ve been doing mostly kettlebell workouts and I love it. Within a week I had more energy and was sleeping better. And I just feel better in general. And I’m getting into a good upper level heart rate when I do swings and the like, so I’m getting a cardio workout with it.
