Looking at a new grill

Currently looking for a new grill, probably an insulated ceramic grill. I have an old charcoal that is 20 years old that is falling apart and looking at upgrading. I love to cook but don’t grill much since my grill isn’t the best.
I’ve seen some past threads about the big green egg, Komodo Joe and primo brands.
My biggest thing is the price on these grills. If I pull the trigger, I want to make sure it is good use and fits what I need. Do you regret the size you bought? So you wish you have went smaller or larger?

Weber Kettle for the win, but if you go ceramic, I highly recommend the Primo Oval, and go as big as you can afford. It's made in the USA.

I have a Kamado Joe Classic II 18" I bought about 5 years ago. There are times I wish i would have gotten the XL as opposed to the large, but those times are few and far between. The large 18" is perfect for what i use it for. I typically have over family/friends every other weekend or so, so i'm cooking for 4-8 people every weekend + kids, depending on what i cook, and i can fit everything that i've attempted to cook, on the grill. If i need extra space, i have the grill extender that sits higher off the grates.
That being said, i think the primo's are a little bit bigger, but not quite the size of an XL KJ. That would likely be the perfect size.

I have been using the same weber kettle for about 15 years, and I grill often. Personally, I wouldn't get anything smaller. The 22" kettle is 380 sq. inches. It seems overkill when you're just doing 2 steaks, but I often have peppers, pineapple, corn, or bread going while I cook. It can fit a brisket or a 10lb bag of leg quarters.
I would buy the performer and never look back.
I just can't be convinced that a ceramic is $1000 better
At the risk of getting roasted, this was the first brisket I cooked for the full time on my kettle.

How many people do you typically cook for?
If I were spending my money today it'd be on a Kamado joe 24" in the newest model they offer.
That being said, I own an XL (24") Big Green Egg that I won at a company event. It does everything I need it to do and I dont need to babysit it if I am doing a long cook. Heat control and retention is great.

If I were purchasing a ceramic grill I'd go with Kamado Joe. You get a better package with initial purchase (more items included) and they seem to update their grill and vent designs with every update. I wouldn't get anything smaller than a "large" size ceramic grill.
A PK grill might fit your needs if want something simple and utilitarian and don't need to a lot of items at once.

I would go with the Weber Summit Kamado. I've got one and love it. Operates just like a ceramic kamado and is a lot lighter.

Just got rid of my crappy traeger and the brand new one they sent me to replace it. Sold both. Done with them. Went with a kamado joe 24”. No regrets. Everyone I spoke to said go big and don’t regret it. I’ve cooked on it twice. First time was 6 ribeyes and 4 chicken breasts. Love it so far. Also as of a week ago there aren’t any XL’s anywhere to be found. BBQ guys in Baton Rouge is out and no clue when they will get any in. They told me a couple months usually. Another place on the north shore told me they couldn’t even place an order for the xl until April. I ended up ordering off of Amazon from a place in Texas

This instead of ceramic every time. If price is a concern, get a Weber Performer. The PK Grills will outlast everyone mentioned so far.

I say go with the Weber kettle 26”.

I am about to pull the trigger on this same grill. The only reason I haven't yet is I cant decide cart or no cart. Prices are soon going up, so I need to make a decision soon.
I really wanted the BigJoe III, but the thought of moving in a year has swayed me into the direction of the Weber Kamado. All are great grills, and I dont really think you will be mad if you go Primo, Big Joe or Weber Summit.
You can get a Weber Summit Kamado for $1049 that is the same size as the larger ceramics. A lot easier to move around too.

Haven’t seen the Weber ranch kettle mentioned? I forget the diameter but it’s bigger than the 26” I have now. 26 does about 5 lbs of wings around the edge when using the vortex.

I just bought a RecTeq Bullseye. It’s the same dimensions as a Weber Kettle, but is a pellet grill. I really like it so far.
Slight hi jack- anyone know the best place to sell one of these? Texas Pitcrafters PM-200s
Inherited it from a family member, been Cooked on probably a dozen times.

Another vote for a Weber Kettle 22" here. I can do everything I want on mine.
For the price of a ceramic I'd just go with a true offset smoker. You can grill on the fire box for most models.
If you don't want the work of an offset, but a middle ground in convenience and price, the Oklahoma Joe Bronco's or Weber Smoky Mountains are good choices. Those usually have adjustable grate levels or charcoal baskets to be able to grill as well, similar to ceramic models.
But if you're using it primarily as a grill and not a smoker, it's hard to beat a Weber Kettle.

I got a vision classic pro and I freaking love it. I gave away my smoker and my other grill when I got it. To do it all again, I would get the classic, not the pro. I think all the knobs are unnecessary and I don’t use the electric starter port.
If it fell over and broke today, I would be at academy this afternoon buying a new one.
Get the classic. There is no need for the super large Kamado/egg unless you have frequent parties. If it is just a family of 4, the classic is all you will need.

I also have a vision classic, not the pro. I got it at Home Depot for $599 a few years ago, It does everything my buddy's egg does for half the price. If you need something larger then the primos XL, but I have smoked 15# brisket and turkeys on there no problem.
Here's some pics to help you come to team vision!

22 or 26 inch Weber Kettle would be my choice if I could only have one grill. They are so versatile.

I've rarely heard someone say they bought one too big. I have heard several people say they regret not getting a larger grill. Do with that what you will.
As others have said, the Weber Kettle is a very versatile charcoal grill at an affordable price. It can do most things the ceramic grills can, though not as easily. Smoking low and slow takes some trial and error, and it can't get as hot as the ceramic ones can. Everyone I know with a ceramic grill swears by it, but I just can't justify the price. I have a Weber gas and charcoal grill, along with a Weber smoker. Between the 3, I can do pretty much anything. The kettle gets the most use.
