Seems like most people on this board have kids. Curious to get people's thoughts when they come across people in their late 30s or early 40s without kids.
I have no children. When I was younger, I thought that I might be missing out by not having any. Now, I view the younger generations as mostly narcissistic and ungrateful little shits and I'm glad I didn't have any.

I usually think that they failed at their base biological function. You exist for your DNA, it doesn’t exist for you.

To each their own
Give or take

Seems more selfish to bring kids into the world we live in these days.
Its a sacrifice to pull out so that some kid doesn't have to experience what it's gonna be like to live in this country in the next 50 years. Pretty selfless act to not have children if u think about it that way.

Some are great. Some are obviously selfish assholes.
Speaking to the latter, when we moved here, we got connected with some families from church. We had our oldest at 23 so most of them didn’t have kids when we met. There was one girl who was getting her doctorate and you could really tell didn’t want to hang out if our kids were around. She was fine if it was just adults.
Eventually when we all got to our 30s and childless couples all started falling to the wayside with kids and they just slowly cut them all out of their lives. They eventually moved to a close town and she started teaching at the university there. She stopped calling or seeing any of us. We noticed that any time she posted on social media, it was always with college students as friends. Which is fine, but then we realized that was all the people she ever hung out with.
Turns out she just cycles through her students as friends. Her poor husband just hangs out with her friends and genuinely has no other friends outside of work. And he wants kids but she refuses.
That sort of childless I don’t care for. Just personal opinion

Without kids I’m not sure how you ever grow into a fully rounded individual. Kids provide an opportunity for a person to sacrifice, put others needs before your own and compromise. It’s not always fun but it is undoubtedly a growing experience
I’m not saying at all that without kids you can’t be a great person, but you will always have some selfishness there specifically because you can retreat to being on your own when you need to. I respect people’s decision to not have kids and understand why they wouldn’t, kids are a challenge, but I do think they are missing out.

You can learn this without kids but you're right, a lot of people are about themselves until they have kids.

There are TONS of selfish parents. This is absurd.

I didn’t become a dad until I was 43. I had plenty of free time and money in the years leading up to becoming a dad.
I really can’t think of anything that’s changed all that much. My daughter removed years off my life with some of the shite she used to do. Now she’s older I think she considers what could happen if she crawls up on top of something she shouldn’t.
I loved her before she was born.
I wonder what Will happen to some of these people that don’t have any children when they get older and they’re in a nursing home by themselves.

It’s totally up to the individual.

You can still have a lot of family responsibilities and have to make sacrifices for them and be selfless without having children fwiw.
I have two younger adult mentally challenged siblings. Who do you think will be in charge of their well-being/care/safety when my mom is gone? Me

None of my business. Unless they choose to tell me, I would likely have no idea why they don't so it would be difficult to form anything like a reasonable opinion.
And alternating between jealousy and pity.

That’s such a lame point. Go to any nursing home and you will see plenty of people there that have kids….that never visit them.

Infertility is a bitch. I’ll just say that.

Same way they feel about people who have kids because they needed to validate themselves
