Britain to return to Imperial Measurements

Nope, not a joke. The EU mandated the Metric System, and so it was illegal to use traditional measures in shops. Parliament is chucking that aside, and so it will be legal to use pounds feet and miles again in everything from shops to highways. The usual suspects are, of course, screaming about backwards old white men, etc.

The imperial system makes soooo much more sense than metric system from a mathematical and conversion outlook
There’s a reason we still use it

You're going to have to explain this one to me.

The pint is undefeated.
EU can shove the metric system up its bidet cleaned a-hole.

I’ll try to find the video, but it has to do with complex numbers and regression stuff.

Lmao wut
Metric system is infinitely better for measuring mass and distance. I mean, it’s not even up for debate
Only thing that sucks is height. Who the frick wants to be 2 meters tall. How we measure horses makes for a more accurate description

Even better, if you're overweight you can tell someone you're 18 Stone. Sounds skinny.

Negative

There are (were) 2 types of countries - those that use the metric system and those that put a man on the moon

I think you mean the opposite of this.

quote:Not just that, but for small distances/lengths, it is easier because because base 12 is more divisible than base 10.

From Transparent Math
quote:
When it comes to feet and inches the imperial system uses a base 12 system, so instead of counting by 10’s (as in the metric system) you count by 12’s. One foot is 12 inches, so two feet is 24 inches, three fee is 36 inches and so on. While it may appear to be more difficult to count by 12’s than 10’s, the advantage that 12 has over 10 is in its divisibility. Twelve can be divided by 2, 3, 4, and 6 (these numbers are called “factors” of 12), ten can only divided by 2 and 5. In our daily lives being able to divide things up evenly easily is a huge plus. For example if you had 12 slices of pizza you could share it evenly with 2 people ( 6 slices each), 3 people (4 slices each), 4 people (3 slices each) or 6 people (2 slices each). On the other hand you had 10 slices of pizza you could only share it evenly with only 2 people(five slices each) or 5 people (2 slices each). Therefore a foot unlike a meter can be cleanly divided by two , three and four – which for a carpenter or tailor makes it the better unit to work with.

Dominion used the metric system to tally votes

They did polling of leave voters in 2017 and it really shows how nostalgic they are. While they're getting rid of base 10, let's hope they bring back guineas, shillings, and farthings.

It's doesn't matter to me. I'm comfortable with both systems. But I have to tell you, I still get a little apprehensive by the use of pounds force versus pounds mass. When I'm unsure that I didn't apply the acceleration due to gravity properly I just convert everything to metric then convert back.

I never looked at it that way and it really does make sense.

At my house, pizza is divided by whoever paid for it.

What? Almost all scientific math is done in metric. It's far easier to convert units
I guess I see what you're saying about essier to divide and work with but the math side and remember the conversions is horrendous because the unit conversions come in 2s,3s,4s,6s and 12s

The problem is with a woman's weight. American women will never say 'I weigh about 10 stones' or 'I weigh about 500,000 grams.'
