ok i get it someone in the admin fricked up and will probably be let go, that said a student needs to know what classes to take.

Does he though?

I’m sure they have told him many times… we will take care of your scheduling, there is someone who looks over it, etc.

Would any reasonable student athlete question the schedule they approve?

You have a point for a general college student, just not here.

Lsu has a history of covering up for students.

Makes me wonder if this is the real story.

I have my doubts.

He’s been here 3 years. He’s likely exhausted every easy freshman level class and is struggling to pass upperclassmen level courses.

CEO is just trying to protect his player and program by throwing others under the bus

When I was in college you had a specific class plan you followed by semester and by year. Only options you had was when you had an elective to choose but they were still listed which ones you could take towards your degree
Its almost as if each degree has a set of classes you have to take to graduate with said degree.

“Stay on top of your own shite”…….you would think after 3 years, Emery could be responsible for himself but as we all know, athletes expect everything to be done for them.

I don't think it is a gpa or pass/fail issue. That's not the only requirement the NCAA has. You also have to be taking enough hours towards a degree. Seems that's the violation because of this incorrect class.

No, this isn't supposed to happen. There's several layers to prevent this- compliance, operations, specific counsellors. More than one person has to drop the ball for this to happen (barring the player refusing to listen to anyone that is).

ugh... didn't think about that. You might be right on that.

If this is true, someone needs to be fired.

Lack of attention to detail. It plagues the program.

I'm almost wondering if he failed or was failing the class he was supposed to pass and someone tried to get him to take some other similar/easier or abbreviated class and see if the NCAA would accept it? I wonder that only because it's hard to believe that they could be so incompetent as to not confirm whether a class he was taking to academically qualify would be accepted or not. If the issue is just that they didn't check to ensure that the class would be accepted, then that is moronic

It sounds like he failed a class and needed to redo the class to erase the F. There might not have been an identical class so he took the similar class you mentioned in the summer.

It would make sense since the previous grade doesn't drop until you meet with an advisor on the last drop / add class day. That was supposed to happen before UCLA, but Ida pushed it to last Friday.

I don't think the NCAA would make a ruling into this. Sounds like our academic department rejected the substitution.

How does Emory not know what classes to take in pursuit of his degree? Does anyone really think the athletes that graduate deserve so ? Really ? Talk about watering down the value of a degree!

I don’t think any football people would deal with eligibility and academic planning.

Anything and everytHing having to do with the football team is the responsibility of a football staffer. And O.

I am an ex-athlete at LSU. I can tell you that the coach gets reports for every class for every athlete. Athletes schedule classes before anyone else. Graduating seniors even schedule after athletes. This is done to be sure athletes are enrolled in exactly what they are supposed to be enrolled in. Yes, someone should be fired for this.

FTR this is done for ALL athletes. Not just the major sports.

And with the way our depth chart looks, you would think Ed would fricking triple check to make sure everything is kosher. But you don’t have time to do that when you are chasing tail.

I know you are jelly of Coach O, but do you really think the head coach goes over class schedules??? This isn't even a responsibility for the football staff. This is on Woody's staff.
