When I was in college you had a specific class plan you followed by semester and by year. Only options you had was when you had an elective to choose but they were still listed which ones you could take towards your degree

It's a little different now than when I was in school (back in the horse and buggy days ).

Depending on the curriculum, there may be a great deal of latitude. Throw in whatever the NCAA decides is or isn't acceptable and there you have the need for people who help guide these guys through. And there is also the online learning options now, which this may have been.

I am basing this on my what sorts of options my two kids have.

Looks like Ed has been hiring the academic support staff as well.

Has Tre Bradford been ruled out from contributing to the class scheduling?

LSU football has a large network of academic counselors & advisers to do things like this.

Apparently, they don’t or they suck

This makes no sense at all

If this is the case Woodward needs to get his shite together and make some calls and get this kid eligible

If I’m Emery and this is the case- I’m transferring.’

How in the frick does that happen at a place like LSU? Clown show is what we are seeing. Emery should tell them all to kiss his arse and leave if true.

This doesn't pass the smell test. Getting caught cheating on a summer school test seems more plausible, but who knows in today's LSU woke clown world academics.

This is shocking if true. Athletes have a tremendous level of support, and there is follow through every step. Perhaps there was an original determination by a counselor that later proved to be wrong. I doubt, though, that Emery was left to his own devices. Derek certainly isn’t running this, there is a whole department of staff and separate reporting systems for student athletes. They are monitored throughout the semester for grades and attendance.

What does “wrong class” mean?

Not enough hours? It’s not like there are course requirements to play football

The NCAA requires you to make X hours per year of progress towards your degree to stay eligible. You can't just take random classes to keep a certain GPA. If Hanny is correct, sounds like they put him in a class they thought would count for a degree requirement, but it doesn't.

ETA: It's also kind of on Emery for putting himself in such a precarious academic situation to begin with. You have to fail/drop a lot of classes to be over two years in and be this close to ineligible.

That's not how any of this works.
