Is the shrimp going to last without power ?

I seriously don't get it.

Does Grand Isle expect a huge looter population? What are they going to do, get in a bunch of bay boats like Somali Pirates to raid an island wiped off the map?

Does anyone have a link to a source that has projected wind speeds for a given area? I saw The Boat posted a screenshot yesterday for BR I think and I'm looking for an updated version.

The wind and the surge could be really bad. Also rain will be a factor for New Orleans. Let’s see if these pumps and infrastructure can handle it. Time to shine!

What we do not want to see, though, is it slow down enough to finish that cycle prior to landfall, which it is unlikely it will.

+1

I looked on the NHC website, but they had other maps that didn’t fit what I was looking for

Question- This is the first storm we've rode out that is in this category. We have several gigantic pine trees near our fence. They are in our neighbors yard.

Can pine trees damage a roof if they fall, my husband thinks just the tops come off and it's fine. I am in jeopardy of it falling on our car. I am in BR (70817)

As a N.O. resident I say thanks for the comedic relief

TS force begins at 5PM

Honestly - yes that happens.

Think about the population up the bayou that would love to get their hands on the contents inside some of the GI camps

This is a good point, I’m sure meemaw will think twice before choosing to bust through the roof with an ax.

This whole discussion has been great.

Good news is that Nola may get a whole new pump system after this.

A pine tree can slice through a house better than a ninja knife.

Yes, they often twist the tops out of the trees, but even the tops can damage your roof if they land on it. They also can snap, particularly if they are weaker trees.

Yeah. The tops come off and go through your roof if they fall on it.

Pine tree tops usually snap more during tornados. In hurricanes they fall easily with saturated grounds and high winds. And yes they can easily damage a roof. Is this a troll account? Genuinely asking as a casual

Edit: removed an absolute
