Not true. I lived out in the country in E Feliciana during Andrew. I saw wind snap pine trees half way up during the storm.

WBRZ says Ida clocked at 150MPH this morning projected to possibly go above 155 making it CAT5. Not a big difference between strong 4 and weak 5 so its technicalities
Grand Isle already at 100MPH gust winds

Just like that, Ida’s western eyewall is back.
Now quite confident the inner eyewall will miss Grand Isle to the south, but the city is squarely in the path of the storm’s primary inner rainband which still contains destructive winds, flooding rain, and surge. #IdaWx LINK

Looks like it is going a little east of where the current track is.

Went to bed, it was a 2, woke up with a 4. Usually for me, it’s the other way around.

Katrina had a couple breaches. I believe the main ones being Lake Borgne and the 17th street canal on the Orleans Parish side. Would hope all have been shored up since

Recon data indicates that Hurricane #Ida has finally leveled off in intensity during the last couple hours. Unfortunately, this is only a tiny comfort at this point. Hoping for everyone's safety as the eyewall nears shore.

I've avoided posting here. West feliciana parish and above? It's going to be bad isn't it?

Yeah, it's on the first page of this thread and has been discussed all morning.

Lobdell exit had gas, as did the stations on 190 heading west toward Opelousas about an hour ago

Ok, time for any good news, our bad new levels are saturated. Any tidbits of positive news are very welcomed.
