“If he can’t go”
Man, why wouldn’t he be able to go?
Y’all are acting like he murdered someone lol.
Jaxs will have to run some extra laps at practice. Maybe pay some fines. He isn’t missing a game for this. He got choked and tazed multiple times. That’s his punishment.
After seeing this video, it makes the letter from the LAPD pleading with the Pels and the NBA to punish Jaxson for using the N word even more laughable.

I mean, that whole shove was overrated.
You say that but if that cop was your son or Collin Sexton, I bet you’d feel differently.
But seriously, the cops won’t get in trouble for this, and Hayes probably won’t either beyond a potential short suspension from the NBA. None of what happened was that egregious from either side.

There is no helping me bc I refuse to overblow something that is over?
I don’t get in situations with police personally. But based on what I am observing in the video, this is a load of nothing other than a learning experience for Jaxson.
Y’all are acting like he is Prime Hulk Hogan and He’s just a freaking lanky son of a bitch that doesn’t respect authority,
Cops were never in any kind of danger here and they went way overboard with the choking and the tasers. They have 6ft 11 of a body to put hands on and they kept putting their hands directly and forcibly on Jaxson’s neck.

The short clip that was released earlier definitely made the cops look bad. This kind of evens it out to me. You can't slam a cop into a wall.
Both of Jaxsons friends were telling HIM to stop. Even they knew when he needed to stop and shut up.
The cops were excessive in certain parts for sure and shouldn't have been, but it wasn't until the cop was shoved into the wall. There's no way they would ever face repercussions in this situation after that.
I just want him back and playing. I like Jax more than most and just want to see him progress. I hate this happened because it's probably going to be a set back.

Once again, the guy is huge. He might be skinny, but he paid to work out and is in much better condition than those officers. His size is a threat to them. I know that sounds silly. But they can't handle him one on one. Especially when he is high on who knows what. A choke hold is the safest thing for everyone involved. What are the alternatives? Punch him? Pin him? How else do you subdue him?
Why wouldn't he be available?
He is going to have to go to court for this in California. Probably during the season. He will probably plead it out and there will be some community type of service, if anything.
But he is on something. That scares the heck out of me. That isn't a pot type of reaction. Was he super drunk? Doing something else? If they couldn't talk him down, he might have to go to rehab. If that comes out. Do you even pick up his option for the next season? Not even thinking about the big contract coming..

I think we found our winner for Boomer overreaction of the year

Is it? I'm not saying Jaxson wasn't instigating by trying to intimidate them, but multiple cops were very handsy with him before the shove. What I see is a citizen who's agitated because he doubts the police's authority in the matter and the cops decided to de-escalate by attacking the citizen into submission.
Maybe that works on someone normal sized who's not rich and famous, but these cops were pretty stupid to not try and use their words more.

I thought the exact opposite. They had hands on him 3 times before he ever retaliates

The other friend pulls him back and is holding him. The other cop put his hands on Jaxson then and there. Why?

To detain him, so they could secure the situation, and enter the house.
Thats pretty straightforward.

Also i think its important that we all point out that there are 2 things going on, as far as this board goes.
1. a discussion about the incident.
2. what we hope occurs based on that incident
Regardless of what we all think about 1 i think we are all in the "hope nothing comes of this" camp for 2 because "basketball reasons"
the problem im seeing is people letting 2 frame how they are describing 1.
1 is not a "nothing burger" just because we want nothing to happen.

ETA: and, my situation didn't take into account the social climate of today in regards to police relations with black males.

It's evidence (albeit anecdotal) that situations like this get swept under the rug, especially if the "offender" doesn't have a prior record. It's a bullshite misunderstanding, what do you want him charged with? Resisting arrest? What was he being arrested for?
ETA: do you know of any incidents similar to this one where the offender was charged with any sort of charge that stuck? Jax is a young kid, with no prior record. Nothing will come of this.

Exactly. Shoving someone off you is not the same thing as trying to hurt the officer. If Jaxson had thrown a punch, this would be a different story.
I can't imagine any charges actually getting filed. If there were, this would just get pled to some community service. Jaxson is not going to jail, and this will have no immediate impact on his NBA career.
As part of that, the 911 call is important, because there's no allegation that he hit his girlfriend. What we know about their situation is that he says she threw stuff at him, and the 911 caller says that he "was violent," which may just mean that he smashed something. If there were a real allegation that he hit her, the situation would be very different.
But you'd better believe that this is going to be a factor in Griff's mind when it comes time for an extension. Because it should have and will have an impact on how much money the front office wants to risk on Jaxson. Emotional instability isn't a good thing.

Cops deserve benefit of the doubt 100% or the time constantly have to deal with people acting like idiots.
People act like idiots, yell, threaten to call managers, assault, and all kinds of other things to customer service people and you know what happens if they act like assholes back to the customers? They get reprimanded and/or fired.
Cops work for us. We pay their salaries with our taxes. Yet they act like they can say and do whatever they want to whoever they want. frick that. They need to follow the law, protect, and serve. Not fricking harass and bully.

My real curiosity is what this whole thing does to Jaxson's attitude. Is he "scared straight" now, with a new dedication to his career, or is he distracted and depressed? Is he training hard every day?
Last season, something changed in Jaxson's attitude that turned his season around. His attitude has a big impact on his performance.
