Honestly looks worse for the cops tbh. The cops were all over the guys neck almost the entire video.

I mean it’s not bright to resist arrest, but he isn’t going to get any jail time or miss games for this.

resisting verbally is one thing but past a certain point, if you physically engage you are gonna get tased.

had he not been acting like that, i didnt see any intial aggression from the officers

Yeah, it’s tough.

I think everyone just needs to call it a day.

Jaxson already got punished. He lost his hot Instagram girlfriend, got choked out and tazed, is probably a bit publicly humiliated and couldn’t play summer league b ball.

Cops obviously weren’t initial aggressors, but were a bit sloppy and probably over aggressive in response. I was expecting Jaxson to be straight up brawling, yelling and screaming like a madman. The push was stupid, but he was otherwise composed. I honestly expected worse from him.

Both parties look like shite for different reasons, but neither party probably did enough to have their life completely ruined by this interaction.

I think it’s embarrassing enough as is for both parties right now. No need to try to punish either more right now.

Yea, looks terrible for the cops. All Jax did was shove one into the wall after he thought his semester and a half at UT taught him the entire US law. Then he just said that they were lucky they had a gun or he would’ve beaten all their asses.

His neck tho.

“Hey, yo I’m a Blessed Soul. Give me yo frickin Badge Number.”

Even under duress, Jaxson is funny as hell, man. That’s undeniable talent. If he gets tossed from the NBA, Comedy Central needs to Supermax this man.

I know in this day and age the whole thought process has changed but what ever happened to just do what they say. When some see this they voice their opinions on both sides. When I see this I go remind my kids to always comply with authority.

I love that Jaxson knew that he needed to get some "i cant breathes" in there. Thats standard operating procedure now.

also..."i know my laws"

Yeah bro, cops need to call a judge and get a "search" warrant to respond to distress calls....totally the law.

I don’t think he’s a comedian. I think he’s an idiot and was high as a kite. It took him 3 tries to say protect and serve. He asked for a badge number 10 seconds after being taxed while still fighting the cops. He also said he knows “his laws” when they said they didn’t need a warrant. Dudes just stupid.

I don't know if this is generational. But I don't understand this POV. How do you want cops to handle this?

A neighbor called the police because they heard loud arguments at 3 am. Should the cops go?

They get there and aren't allowed to talk to the female. Should they leave without confirming her condition?

By law, they have the authority to enter the property, find the other party and confirm they are OK. Should they have disregarded their duty and just left?

When they followed procedure, this massive professional athlete tried to stop them. I don't think people understand how huge Hayes is. What do you do when he shoves you? What should they have done?

I just don't get supporting Hayes. Maybe he was emotional after the fight. But he had a friend there trying to settle him down and pull him away (like a good friend should). This a big teaching moment. Hopefully he learns. I don't like him accusing the cops of abuse though. It's chickenshit and those cops have to be investigated as a result, possibly losing their careers. He cried wolf and tried to end them. But he shouldn't have to face any consequences?

Exactly...

People completely disregard the perspective that the cops are there on what they believe is a possible domestic violence situation.

A high AF giant refusing to let you speak with anyone in the house is fishy as frick. Once he has established that he is going to try and physically keep you from entering the house, you have to detain him so you can do your job. Then when he establishes he wont allow you to detain him and be comes the aggressor, then what?

like please, someone give me literally any reasonable action the cops should have taken other than what occurred.

Jaxon really seems like a fricking moron most of the time.

LINK

This is how it’s supposed to be handled by the police.

I mean to be fair, everything he said was perfectly clear other than protect and serve. Some people have stutters or struggle with certain phrases. Perhaps he was flustered from being choked and the overall situation lol. Not saying he isn’t stupid for escalating with the cops though.

The last few generations don’t even listen to their own mothers though , let alone the cops. Thankfully nobody really got hurt. It was a dumb situation, but could have been a lot worse.

It should be over now. I still haven’t seen anything that warrants jail time, league suspension, etc.

Next time you see a cop shove him into a wall and see if you get some jail time.

Have confirmed this also happened? Because the link has the 911 call made by the cousin of Jax’s GF:

quote:

after a woman called 911, claiming she received "disturbing" texts from her cousin who claimed Hayes was "getting loud and violent," adding she was "scared and couldn't call the police herself."

If you listen to the 911 call, she also says that Jax’s family was on the phone with him trying to calm him down. I’m wondering if there is a lot more going on with Hayes behind the scene regarding potential mental health issues or if he just had a really bad “trip”

Two other things I learned from watching the body cam:
1.) the shove from Hayes was more forceful than I was picturing, although it might have to do with him being twice that guys size than the amount of force Hayes actually intended to use.

2.) the police union letter to the NBA asking to suspend Hayes for using the n-word is ridiculous. He was clearly using it as common slang and not as a pejorative or derogatory manner towards a particular person. Again, their letter was petty and beneath their position.

I mean, that whole shove was overrated. The cops were grabbing Jaxson’s arms and hands and he responded a bit. He shouldn’t have, but it’s not like he ran across the yard and shoved a guy with his back to him. The guy he “shoved” was unnecessarily entangling himself with Jaxson.

The cops don’t look good here. If anyone gets any extra punishment, it will be the guy that choked Jaxson 8-10 different times over the span of 2 minutes.

I just wonder how we handle him going forward. He is 5.5M this year and has an option for 7M the next. I'm sure we pick that up before the season. But he is up for a big extension in less than a year. This is a huge year for him. He is our 3rd big, which is a big deal. If he can't go, we are in trouble.

what a dumbass.
"peterv and select"
real nice Jaxson. you sure do know your laws.
i guess we are going to suspend him for saying n***a. Oh and we have to suspend Dinwiddie for saying it too in that video with NAW. I would think Meyers Leonard would think that's fair.
