Why would lsu vote no? Did you see the hype for the 2020 LSU-Texas game? There’s an opportunity to add a legit big money rival to the schedule.
We would probably lose UF, bama and auburn from our permanent schedule.
frick that

As an Arkansas fan, I would slightly prefer seeing Arkansas play OU and Texas every year than AU and Bama. I could take it or leave it though.

Any AD who votes no should be fired for not doing their job (which is to make the most money possible).

Personably I’d rather go back to the old 10 team SEC but since its already messed up we might as well go to 16.
In a weird way the pod thing would probably create more schedule rotation. LSU would probably have A&M, Ole Miss, and MSU on the schedule every year then rotate everybody else. We’d probably get to play teams like Tennessee, South Carolina, and Georgia more often.

Only A&M will vote no. The rest will be all about that $$$$. Texas and OU will be fun road trips every other year. I'm all about it

Lot of potential money/exciting matchups. Kinda want tbh.

I just don't see where this money comes from that everyone is talking about. The SEC just signed a contract without Texas and Oklahoma. It would be 10 years before another tv rights contract. Bowl money and NCAA Tournament sharing is miniscule compared to SEC rights.

Texas brings nothing to the SEC.
LOL. They brings a shitload of money. That’s what this is all about. It’s not about competitiveness for any one school. It’s about more money. I don’t trust Texas as far as I could throw them but their presence mean a ton of extra money to the SEC.
If Texas and Oklahoma bring more money, almost every school but butthurt A&M and Missouri will vote for it. They need 3 no votes to block it. The key is if Arkansas still has some Texas butthurt to also vote no.

Yep. ESPN isn't going to pay significantly more money (if they renegotiate at all) because the state of texas already pays the in market rate for the sec network. Oklahoma doesn't have the population to add that much revenue to a tv deal.

The NFL earns $11B/year on TV rights. The SEC earns $300M
Adding OU and UT will arguably increase the Saturday viewership to numbers more closely approaching NFL levels. The average NFL game gets about 6.2M viewers whereas current SEC game gets 4.2M
You also earn more on home game attendance bc ppl will pack TS for UT/OU and not so much for Troy

Who cares what the HYC is unhappy with... They continually try to act like they are the only show in Texas, and just got slapped with reality.

They sort of want Texas around, but not too close. They need it for the recruiting. But Oklahoma may be what gets them the no vote.

I would love to tell Texas no, just because of their ridiculous sense of entitlement.

which is just a complete ridiculous idea.

For the people in here talking about market sizes. That isn't the metric for more TV money anymore. Streaming is taking over. It's about brands and viewers. The SEC and ESPN want this because it will make both more money immediately. A new broadcast deal is written the instant Texas and Oklahoma join, plus it kills the Longhorn Network money pit ESPN regrets to this day.
