Texas brings nothing to the SEC.
Besides more money than you have ever seen in your life.

quote:frick no we’d take them in a heartbeat. Takes away the Aggie advantage of being the only sec school in Texas and most likely means we get to run away from bama when the conference realigns. Win win
Arkansas will probably vote no

For the people in here talking about market sizes. That isn't the metric for more TV money anymore. Streaming is taking over. It's about brands and viewers. The SEC and ESPN want this because it will make both more money immediately. A new broadcast deal is written the instant Texas and Oklahoma join, plus it kills the Longhorn Network money pit ESPN regrets to this day.
Couldn't agree more re:Longhorn Network. Branding is the safeguard for any network when it comes to signing rights. But the thing ESPN already has a relationship with Ok and Texas / Big12 contract. I just don't see ABC/ESPN reworking a deal with the SEC. I am assuming this is a smokescreen by the Big12 as a jumping point to negotiating their next rights package with FOX and or ESPN.

what’s so wrong with pod scheduling? It insures we play every team more often than we do now and likely then we did before the addition of Aggey and great value tigers.
One worry is that you could have 3 teams that are undefeated that haven't played each out. I am actually not sure if that is possible, but let's say it is. What do you do then? I guess you could implement an SEC playoff with the 4 pod winners.
I am still on board with the pod over 8 team divisions. I would love the Pod system now. I can't stand playing at Mizzou, Kentucky, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Vandy once every 12 years.
ETA: Although, now that I'm looking at the proposed 14 team pod schedule, it's not really like little divisions. Just because one team is in your pod doesn't mean they play the same teams every year. So, I guess pod champs wouldn't be a thing.

Sankey is going to pull every bit of leverage he can to get them in.

Just so I'm following, Texas just spent the literal decade talking all this shite about the SEC, all of this shite about A&M in the SEC, how the big 12 is a better conference, and ow awesome the LHN is. Now they are literally throwing all of this away to join the conference and procijg that A&M was right the entire time. And that makes A&M the dumb ones? Makes sense. Never change people

the 2010 south division title is no longer safe

A&M and Mizzou are gonna definitely vote against adding them. Then only 2 of the remaining 12 to vote no and they are blocked.
IDK about Mizzou, but UF, UGA, Kentucky, and USCe will vote against inviting Texas too. They all have it worked out that no new members will be invited from states with current SEC members. That is why Clemson, FSU, and/or Miami were not invited to be the 14th member of the SEC after it added A&M.

I honestly think Missouri would vote yes. I think Arkansas would as well.
For Missouri it's not just a tv movie thing either. Adding those two teams would/should force a realignment in the SEC and give Missouri a chance to plead it's case to move to the west where it doesn't have to travel as far for division games. It makes no sense that their closest team to them is Arkansas and they don't have to play them every year.
If they can get realigned, it will save them on travel costs to go along with the other money Texas and Oklahoma bring to the Table.
Also... I think if Texas comes in with regards to the amount of money they already have and spend mixed with new SEC money, they will always be the biggest spender, or close to, in conference. Oklahoma will fall eventually. I think All these "great" Oklahoma teams would have had much more losses playing an SEC schedule. I don't see how that will improve. No way does Oklahoma get to playoffs playing a selected few of LSU, Bama, Georgia, Florida, Aggies. If they have a full schedule of them, it's over for their spotlight in time. I honestly believe they would become an Arkansas.

you’re fighting for West Virginia and BIG 12 rejects.
I wouldn't mind adding West Virginia into the East, but not without a BIG name coming in as well like Texas, Florida State, Miami, or Clemson. I would hate the idea of just getting West Virginia and a smaller Big 12 team like Baylor or TCU.

I think this entire story is a smokescreen by the BIG12 but I agree with this statement 100%.
