Saddam was an idiot (probably mentally unstable) in not allowing UN access to disable W's post-9/11 war argument.
So regarding WMDs, W was ready and willing to believe, likely encouraged IC reporting in that direction, but probably did think Saddam had them.

I think the intelligence agencies gave W just the right info for him to be convinced of WOMD, and W bought it. His mistake was using WOMD to justify the war in the first place; he should have kept it to fighting terrorism.

I think Bush believed they were there. Someone lied. Either our intelligence guys lied to Bush, or those same intelligence guys were duped by Saddam’s lies.
What probably happened, was up until we dropped bombs, Saddam was largely complying with international restrictions, but doing everything he could to make it look like he was lying about complying so that he saved face in the region.
He never thought we’d actually invade.

No. They told Saddam exactly when we were coming in. They gave him something like six months to get rid of and/or hide his WMDs. Did anyone really think that we were going to find anything? All of those WMDs were taken to other Middle Eastern countries.
Now, he did lie about having a plan to get us out of Iraq, the Middle East, and Afghanistan. There was never a plan to get us out. The military industrial complex, and especially Halliburton, viewed this as a way to massive f*cking profits for decades. That is what they ALL lied about as they were paid by these corporations of death to put us in neverending wars.

I’m pretty sure I remember news videos of Shiite or Shia refugees that had been gassed with chemical weapons by saddam.
