I agree with everyone on the board here. Season 1 was leaps and bounds ahead of Season 2. I don't know what the mood is they're going for, but I'm just not catching it. My thing is, even when the episode isn't that bad, Dave comes off as a narcissist douchebag.

I don’t mind the self-deprecating humor, as long as it’s actually funny. My issue is that it’s less “self-deprecating humor” and more straight up self-deprecation.
The Kareem episode really summed up my entire experience with this season, at least since the first episode: It’s all tension, with no release.
I feel like it’s probably being set up for some kind of super rewarding moment of clarity where LD has an epiphany on life/music/whatever. At least that’s what I hope. But it’s reaching a point where it’s going to have to be a hell of a climax to make it all worthwhile.
And honestly, at this point I’m 50/50 on whether I expect the season to end with LD releasing his album or with somebody committing suicide then cutting to credits.

I imagine this was at least half tongue in cheek, but it wouldnt surprise me if the suicide part happened with the way this season has been. Shocking accurate guess honestly.

Definitely a different tone this season but I still find it very enjoyable. It’s still hilarious at points and clever writing. I’m just not sure where it’s heading and that’s ok. Also team Gata

Definitely the best episode if the season so far imo. But still had a terrible ending. Even for an odd dude like Dave, it was overly stupid. I mean he sent like 10 drama queen texts overreacting and chewing her out. I mean it's freaking Doja Cat and it's your 1st day texting her, she has been texting you all day and told you she was really busy, no need to turn into a bitch. It's like they're trying to make him less likeable this year.

And he doesn't have Ally to ground him anymore. I think the meltdown with Doja Cat was also used as another illustration of just how much of a narcissist Dave is.

Man tonight’s episode was so good. I feel like the season is really starting to hit its stride. I feel for Dave, he’s always admitted he’s not a freestyler and they expect him too. That’s not his thing.
He needs to get it together, and I hope there is some redemption by the end of the season.

Its definitely not following his life exactly because in real life he killed that cypher and it was all shot in one take. Good episode though. My damn cable glitched toward the end of the Mountain Dew rap.

I read where they were trying to highlight the downside of the music industry this season after Dave essentially got what he wanted last season, the record deal, fame etc. They are doing a great job showing the downside. It’s just not as fun to watch

That was a fantastic episode. I really wish we could have heard Dave rap to the slower beat. But, it was a great idea to have a flashback so that we could get a rap from.
Also really liked Emma realizing that she wanted to do more and wants to direct a music video for Gata. Even if it never happens, it was a good development in the story.

I really enjoyed this episode, by far the best of the season and I don’t think it’s close
Crazy how much younger Dave looks with no beard .
Gata is still one of my favorite characters on tv. He’s so good at how they use him off the bench.
Emma is definitely fine as frick. Glad she’s getting more screen time.
When Dave was struggling, and Emma started to smile as it flashed back to the Mountain Dew rap, I thought they were setting that up for Emma to come up to Dave and bring that moment up , that he could do it and go crush the XXL beat
