It was an attempt to admit his wrongs and get her back. He used the song/album as a cop out. Hence why he stormed out.

It was also clear that Ally was still in love with him, but he shot himself in the foot with his reaction.

Really enjoyed that episode (S2E9).

Felt like a bit of a return to the fascinating weirdness of S1, culminating with the surprise of his actual ability to rap.

Also had a faint Mr. Robot vibe.

Wow. What a wild episode. I wasn’t sure where it was going, but what a pay off. That song at the end was fire. I need new some Lil Dicky music, please Dave!

Agreed. I love that the setting was Rick Rubin’s place.

How great would it be if he released an album out of nowhere along with the finale? Seems like such an LD move to do and I think it would be an amazing surprise to his fans.

The roller coaster of opinions we’ve had on this season seem to go at the same pace as his own mental roller coaster in the show and he’s coming to the end of his self realizations. An album release in the finale matched with an actual release in real life would be fire.

Lil Dicky is incredibly creative. This episode was probably the best episode of the whole series.

I honestly think it’s the best episode of TV I might have ever watched. I know that’s sounds very hyperbolic but it really was.

I think its the top episode of the entire series. It tapped into that awesome season 1 vibe and weirdness in the right way for the first time this season.

Hairless Dave dancing had me cracking the frick up and cringing so hard at the same time. Prettyyy, pretty good.

This episode was great, but I couldn't disagree more. Lil Dicky with the sex doll and GaTa revealing he was bipolar are magnitudes better, in my opinion. Those are 1a and 1b, and it's personal preference whether you want outright hilarity or gravity that distinguishes between the two.

I have a feeling the next episode is going to be absolutely fantastic with some real forward progress for LD, but it kinda sucks that we've been watching more or less a season-long bottle episode. I like the occasional bottle episode, don't get me wrong, they can be instrumental in showing character development, but there's been a decided lack of substance in season 2. I'm not going to stop watching by any means, but as a whole season 2 is a step down.

What I'm saying is Atlanta and Ramy did it better. Meet me at Sonic.

ETA: And I do want to emphasize that this episode was great. The self-actualization he experiences bodes so well for what is to come from a narrative standpoint.

That episode was fantastic. So bazaar and macabre, yet still completely relatable. The idea of him following the toy to nowhere and wrecking it, only to realize he’s driving it, Gata being willing to give Dave everything and Dave serving it to people to please them, Ally telling him that it didn’t have to end, Dave thinking humor and over analysis are a joke, his greatest fears being failure and success, man all that shite really got me. I felt so connected to the character, like I’ve been in his shoes to some extent and went on that same journey of self-discovery to find my motivation and creativity. Just masterful story-telling that still had a few laughs and massive character development and growth.

Unbelievable episode, second half of this season has been great. Is the next episode the finale?

Hairless Dave. Oh my. That was Ex Machina level of disturbing with a side dose of the shitty Fox Deadpool.

That was some weird shite yo but that first beat was cool.

The beats in both seasons are sick. I love that style.
