Season 1 was so much more rewatchable than the entirety of season 2 has been to me so far

Ditto. I was hyping-up this show to a friend, and now I’m starting to get concerned with the direction this season is heading.

Still enjoyable, just hasn’t reached those former high peaks yet, IMO.

Agreed. S1 was incredible. This season....not so much.

Still will be watching every week though.

This season is definitely a step down from season 1. Its still funnier than most stuff out there, but its been a bit disappointing.

The 10 minute "Chuck" intro was pretty stupid. We get it, yall do some gay stuff, move on. I did crack up later though when Gata came over and him and they were talking about how you dont see any black bromance movies. Gata told him to name one and Dave thought about it for a minute and said Rush Hour

I need more Ally as well.

There’s some moments in season 2 to be sure, but this has fallen off hard.

Gata is on J Date looking for a woman with a 401k plan.

I was waiting for Dave's phone to somehow get paired with the car and then the car would read his texts to his parents.

Finally a good episode. Dave can't get out of his own way sometimes. It's hilarious.

This was a more enjoyable episode, but in the end still literally nothing happened to advance any sort of plot. I guess technically you could say that he and Elz were working on music at the beginning, so maybe that counts?

I have no idea who Doja Cat is (I've heard of her, but am not familiar with anything about her...I assume she's a pop star/singer?), but she was okay to look at I guess.

If that is how "dating" is these days, then I hope I stay married forever. And yeah, LD with the super smooth save on the screenshot. But why the hell would he not at least consider that the popular pop star celebrity chick was busy? I get that his argument was that she had time to post some outfit on Instagram, but dude...just chill and see if she responds. Once you are positive she bailed on dinner, that's when you go off on her and give her your rant. Also, her little "lol" response to his ramblings feels like it's pretty typical of women these days.

LOVED season 1. My wife and I started season 2 and I can't get past the second episode and I'm not sure why.

I saw the scene with them in the pool with Kendall Jenner and Benny Blanco and I thought "Why am I watching this?"

It just seems like a totally different energy. I guess I should give it another episode or 2 before calling it quits.

It does get better (after the completely awful "gay" episode). But this season is definitely a sharp, downward decline in quality from S1.

I think your second take is part of advancing the plot by showing another instance of Dave spiraling. He's got a short fuse and is insecure because he can't write anymore songs worth putting out.

That was super cringe and didn't really even make sense on Dave's part. He had just bailed on Sadie for "being too busy" so he could go out with Doja Cat and then proceeds to blow her up when she's way more busy than him.

Dave obviously wouldn't know the ig story post was done by her assistant, but c'mon man.

And I guess Sadie's date that she bailed on for Dave matched with Ally at the end? I think that was her.

And agree with everyone in this thread about S2 lacking. We need more rapping from LD.

But that doesn't "advance" anything. We've known that for a long time now, and he's shown that to us again and again (and again) this season. I don't need to see Dave step all over himself over and over every week. It would be nice if he a) got a win here and there, and b) was moving toward something...anything. Self-deprecating humor is fine and all, but it can't just SOLELY be that nonstop.

ETA: It was 100% Ally at the end.

I saw the fact that he got the date with Doja Cat and the chat he was having with her was a win until he ultimately messed it up. I like that they showed that she was really interested in seeing him until the last second. He also got the video thing which he saw as a win too.

I really thought that was a great episode. First great episode of the season for me.

Right, but neither of those were wins. He totally blew the Doja Cat date, and the video thing was weird and awkward and wasn't at all what he thought it would be. Not sure I would call it a win at all.

Gata after that 401K sugar momma. He’s the best supporting character on TV right now after NoHo Hank. Every line he drops is pure gold. Mike has good ones too. “Christian Guy. He’s Presbyterian.”

I don’t really know who the frick Doja Cat is, but good god. That was one juicy booty.

Such a strong episode. Brings back the S1 vibe and kind of mashed it together with Master of None. Of course Dave fricks up though. Bro had it in the bag and straight up blew it by being needy as hell. That text flood was cringe. Come on Dave, you know the biz.

Easily the best episode of the season. More laidback and chill.

I'm behind. I just saw episode 3 and wtf was that. I could have really gone without watching that episode. At first Benny's character was funny on here, but this episode made me dislike him and Dave.

That wasn't even bromance, that was damn near gay porn, wtf.

Heres to hoping episode 4 is better.
