Best episode of the season so far. Glad that Elz and LD seem to be working shite out. What was the deal with Mike and “Darren”?

Yeah I couldn't tell if it was heading into uncomfortable territory or Mike just wants a friend so bad he said what he said.

Best episode of the season so far. However, it is yet again because of Gata! Even the scene with his boo thing came off so genuine. "I aint into all that but I'm into you". Found myself rewinding to watch him perform in front of the house multiple times haha. Dude went from being straight up exhausted to gettin in hype mode when he saw all the kids and parents going crazy. Loved it.

I must have had some secondhand reefer hit from the tv, but I had this thought that seemed like a stretch, but I made it make sense in my head....
Last episode we saw LD tell KAJ that he's essentially self-absorbed because his success brings his fans happiness and that's what he wants to do. This episode we see Els drop the hint that LD and Gata should collab together. You can tell Gata would LOVE it, but LD couldn't have shrugged that idea off quicker.
Do you think LD thinks Gata would be "better" than him, or do you think LD thinks HE is better than Gata and doesn't want to work with someone he feels is below him? My hope is that associating himself with LD will propel Gata into continued popularity. I was happy to see the kid knew that Gata was an important part of the crew and treated him the same way he treated LD. He straight up asked Gata to save his bar mitzvah with that performance.
Long stoner thought short....LD is indirectly helping Gata's career/popularity, which based on his explanation to KAJ last episode should make him happy. What if LD and Gata collab to make some bomb arse album that all of LD's fans love! Icing on the cake of course is Els producing the beats.

I'm not NOT a fan of Els, but I can never really find myself liking him either. The basketball scene threw me off a bit until the end of course.

I just finished last nights episode, and I agree. It has definitely started to pick up. The whole episode was just filled with great awkwardness. I was also worried something bad was gonna happen to Gata.
Hopefully with LD and Els mending their relationship, we might actually see some music before the season ends.

Did I miss something at the end of S1 or beginning of S2 for this to have been a thing so far? I was confused as to why their friendship had turned sour so quickly...or at least the "business-ship" they had. Even when they made up after they got kicked out of the bar mitzvah it was weird to me. It took a jew to call Els a racially under toned posse member for LD to change his mood and come to Els' aid.

couple eps ago Dave called Els for whatever reason thinking Els was still out of state or out of country or wahtever it was, he'd been gone a while regardless. Els picked up and Dave was kind of surprised that Els was back in town and he didn't even let Dave know and definitely hadn't called to hang out. Then Els gave him a non-vitation essentially to a party that he basically was forced to since they were already on the phone. Then Dave showed up and Els was a complete cock. Didn't even pay Dave any attention, didn't even say hello, and basically made it seem like he was on to bigger an dbetter things these days and didn't have time for peons like Dave.
I don't blame Dave for being pissed at him, els has been a shite character this season.

I was too. That whole scene was low key tense for me. When he was at that house with the lights trying to charge his phone, I thought for sure either the cops were about to roll through there or the owner was going to pop out with a gun. Was glad it didn’t happen though.

Watched last night. Weird episode, but I enjoyed it. I feel like this show is getting too mundane, if that makes sense. I really like the show, but man I don't need to see LD gay it up for 15 straight minutes, or Gata try to charge his phone for ten minutes, shite like that.
Gata is awesome and seems like a genuinely good dude. And I like that LD and Elz are FINALLY getting shite right between them (mainly because it kinda came out of nowhere anyway). But man the overall story needs to advance toward SOMETHING. As much as I love LD, I don't need to see him just living his life and doing mundane shite nonstop. At least have some sort of narrative and advance it forward.

I'm late to this thread and just read through it. Is LD the sole writer of the show? It seems very rushed in the character development/relationship aspect.
LD and Benny became gay best friends very fast. LD like hates Mike now and that happened very fast. LD and Elz were cool, not cool, and now cool again? The relationships of the characters keep swinging way too quickly for me.
I ask if LD is the sole writer because the Ally relationship arc has seemed very well done to me, while all of the friendship arcs are poor, with the exception of gata. Maybe first time tv show writing errors or something idk.

They’re going with the “cringe” route in S2, it’s pretty shite, honestly. Hope they get back to the magic of S1, and more LD rapping
