Six Uptown residents have filed a lawsuit against Children’s Hospital New Orleans over the construction of a new helicopter landing area on its campus, nearly a year after the daily roar of helicopter operations began across the street from their homes.
The lawsuit, which seeks class action status, was filed in Orleans Parish Civil District Court Friday. It claims Children’s Hospital, owned by LCMC Health, moved its helicopter landing pad from one side of the hospital to the other during its $300 million renovation project without the proper permits and without consulting residents living across the street.
Plaintiffs represented by lawyers Christoper Bruno, Joseph Bruno and Megan Kiefer argued that the new location has disrupted their daily lives and lowered property values.
“The flights, takeoffs, and landings occur randomly at all hours of the day and night and emit deafening sounds and vibrations significant enough to cause physical and mental discomfort, property damage, and annoyance,” according to the lawsuit.

Incredibly dumb and shows the entitlement of some people. Some of the helicopter takeoffs and landings are practice, but most are for children in dire need of medical attention. I hope the hospital doesn’t lose the lawsuit.

Didn't they try this a year or two ago and social media went in dry on them, causing them to drop it?

I'd be interested to know how long those assholes have lived there.

Wow...just wow.
There are posters here that have come out on the side of the residents.
I will say, I get their point. The heliport was moved nearer to the neighborhood, but gahd damn a lawsuit is a bad look. The fricking giraffes nextdoor give less of a frick than the residents.

I mean, not gonna oss judgment on the neighbors without being in their shoes. Have had helicopters flying over my home at night before that woke us. And we’re no where near a hospital. shite might be shaking their whole house. Compensate them so they can sell to some deaf folks and move on.

I'm sure the typical CDC jury will be VERY sympathetic to the plaintiffs in this one.

Petitioners herein strenuously object to the lifesaving measures that are taking place by the least restrictive means possible, to help save poor defenseless children. Petitioners really do not give a flying F about anyone else besides their own sheltered and cloistered kin.
Petitioners do want it known that in the event one of their children or close relatives are seriously injured at any of the myriad beach and/or vacation properties owned by them in the vicinity of defendant hospital, there are no objections to Life Flights taking place at any time.

A settlement won't stop the flights. FAA lawyers gonna get involved and end this BS lawsuit quick.....I hope.

Damn those critically ill children and their inconsiderate timing!!
All jokes aside, these kind of people suck. Move if you have a problem with it. We should care more about a kid’s health than about some yippity uptowner’s safe space

My rural home is on a flight path that has medivac's travel to and fro hospitals. It rarely happens, It is loud and I always pray for who ever is on it.
I would not want it across the street; but then again I would never buy near a specialty hospital either.

I don't know all the details, such as how loud it is, but I wouldn't criticize them for filing it just because it's a children's hospital.
