This single event is the "Gavarilo Princip" moment of American History in my opinion.

If Stonewall doesnt die, the CSA wins the war (or at the very least, avoids defeat)

Absurd! The CSA had no chance against the USA. The asymmetry in factories, etc meant it was a matter of time. Their ports were blockaded, and they had no means to sustain themselves in a protracted war.

I'm not a Civil War buff at all, but even I know this is a dumb take.

It would have been interesting to see how he responded during the first day of Gettysburg. Would he have given Lee a tactical advantage that was lost by his other commanders, particularly Ewell and AP Hill.

That was the whole point to the Pennsylvania campaign, to force the North to sue for peace.

The what if regarding Stonewall is one of those great mysteries.

I personally don’t think the CSA would’ve won the war with him, the Union had the tremendous manpower and industrial advantage. I think at most they could’ve forced public support in the North towards to the war to completely collapse, it was already teetering at this point.

Maybe the South could’ve forced an Armistice or something, but an outright victory even with Stonewall seems unlikely. Even with a CSA victory at Gettysburg the Union could’ve just regrouped, they had the manpower to. Also, everyone always forgets Grant was running roughshod in the West at the same time anyways. The Deep South was effectively beaten, all that would’ve remained was the Army of Northern Virginia.

Like others have said, the US could out produce the south. Still. It makes for a lot of interesting premises.

Harry Turtledove has like five different universes were the south won and how. All intersecting. His best selling was the one where time travelers supplied the south with crates of AK-47s.

The longest series the south won, then lost badly in a second war. Then WW1 was centered in America as was WW2.
In that series the Civil War takes 80 years to finish.

Romantic sentiment. The South had no chance in a protracted conflict. The North's advantage in population and industrial might was to great to overcome.

No just no the Union was far stronger and far more advanced than the CSA. The best the CSA could up for is be enough of a pest for the Union that they come to a cease fire

I don’t think so. Take it from Rhett Butler:

LINK

The only way the South could have avoided defeat was if they used guerrila style tactics North Vietnam used, or gotten backing from foreign govt.

Whoever their generals were and conventional warfare tactics wouldn’t have mattered.

Not a chance. The South had to have everything break their way from the moment of secession on to have even the slightest chance. By the summer of '63 enough had gone wrong (Ft Donaldson, the mountain campaigns early in the war that allowed WV to secede from VA, missed opportunity at Shiloh, etc) that the Confederate hopes were doomed.
