Pediatrician Visits Re: Wait Times

At my little one's 1 year wellness visit and I've been "checked in" and waiting on the doctor for 45 minutes. This seems to be standard practice as I've visited multiple offices and always wait at least 30 minutes to be seen, regardless of time of visit. Once seen, it takes no longer than 5 minutes for useless information and/or a shot.
Pediatricians of the OT, what are you guys doing? Tik toking in the break room? Trying the drug samples? Overbooking appointments to maximize profits? Is there not a better system or at least some awareness of how horrible you all are at keeping a schedule?
/Rant

Longer waits give OP chance to spy out mom talent

Just start providing the medical care to your kid yourself. Everything you need is on youtube.

Change doctors.
We have 3 kids. I can't recall ever "waiting" at all, in fact, it seems if we arrive early, we get in early. I'd ask around about other practices and see what people say.
About the only wait I can recall is at the emergency room. Get ready for that.

I honestly never waited longer than 15 minutes. Go see Dr. Lara at Ochsner on Napoleon. Half the time I barely was able to sit down and they were calling us back.

Just wait until socialized medicine. CVS Caremark is in the process of killing off independents. Bet you can’t find a CVS that will have your meds filled in under 45 minutes.
Soon will be the norm at provider offices

I've never waited near that long. We're almost always taken back at start of appointment time.

Overbooking, making $$$
Quit complaining, you are free to see another provider.

Never had that problem with ours. We barely used to get seated in the waiting room before they called us back, then only waited maybe 5-10 minutes in the exam room.

This is the correct answer

I've had to wait at least 30-45 mins every time I've taken my child to the pediatrician. Seems like standard bs at every pediatrician office. Been to 3 different clinics and same shite with every one.
My child is 2 years old and it's very difficult to get her to sit there that long. Pediatricians should be more considerate of parents with toddlers.

Could be lots of things. Maybe they have a shitty nurse that is inefficient at rooming people quickly.
Maybe patient one was late and set the precedent for the whole day.
Maybe patient one brought a sibling, parent starts weaseling kid two into the visit, and they go over.
Maybe all of the first two things happen. Maybe 2/3 of the first two things happened.
Maybe the parent started asking about a ton of shite that wasn't pertinent to the original visit, took longer than expected, and backed the day up past what should have been a 15min follow up spot.
Maybe there was a giant fricking rainstorm this morning and the doctor, a regular human, was accidentally late and set a bad cadence for the day's timing.

Been to 2 pediatricians, one had no wait but provided terrible, substandard care. Next and absolutely wonderful pediatrician sometimes has a little wait because she’s very thorough with each patient. Some also do virtual exams/appointments during the day that also backs up appointments.

Find a better family practice? Get better insurance?
I don’t know what to tell you. I have a 4 month old and there’s almost 0 wait time in the waiting room or for the doctor once in a patient room.

Every time I’ve taken my kids it’s taken less 10 min.
Maybe don’t be poor

Can you clarify your complaint?
Did you spend 45 minutes waiting after being checked in, put in room, seen the nurse, etc.
Or 45 minutes total?
You have to be checked in, insurance verified, copays collected, put in a room, nurse has to check the vitals and update the chart, then the doctor comes in.
Are you aware that all of that happens every time?

If you don't like the wait go to Concierge Medicine Dr.. Pay a couple hundred a month and little wait time.
Basically you're bitching about paying for a Big Mac and not getting good service.
And alot of people once they get back want to get everything checked and talk

Sounds like you may want to change Dr.s'. I wait no longer than 10-15 minutes max, when bringing my kids to see our pediatrician.
