Hershey bar was 10 cents. 1970’s.
Going to Catholic elementary school, every year we had to sell the "World's Greatest Chocolate Bar" for school fundraising events. These were MUCH bigger than the crap they sell today. When I first started selling them, they were .25¢.
The crap they sell today is about 1/2 the size and they charge $2 a bar.

We'd walk to the Chevron near our house to get a 16 ounce Dr. Pepper for 50 cents.

Canned cokes in most vending machines were 50 cents, and were 35 cents at Walmart's machines.
20oz cokes were usually 99 cents.
Gas at Circle K was $0.879.
Value meals at McD were $2.99, supersize for 39 cents more.

We still had vending machines at our high school. They also sold lemonade and tea inside the lunchroom. It was 50 cents for a coke, and 25 for a lemonade/tea when I was a freshman. Someone decided to up the price 10 cents on each, so then we all had to carry an extra dime or quarter.

McDonald had a hamburger special back in the day. 3 for $1. Was a really small plain burger but 3 of my buddies I played ball with went in and ordered 100 of them. Finished all of them.
1 guy played offensive line for UH, another was AA DE end for OU. They could eat!

NBA replica jerseys by Champion - $40
Pro rasslin' pay-per-view - $19.95
New music releases on cassette - $7.99
Name-brand kicks that wouldn't get you picked-on at school could be had for under $75
I was gettin' paid $2.75 an hour (cash money, tax free) to flip burgers at a mom-and-pop joint. Boss man would tell me to take whatever he owed me out of the register at week's end. Wild.

Riding the RTA was 90¢, a transfer was 10¢
During the school year I had bus tickets, but not in the summer
A bowl of chili at Krauss in the mezzanine was $1.

Wack's in Metairie? I went there as a teen until they retired sometime in the mid-90s.

And all that to get what, 200hp out of your iroc?
It is always cute when the guy that knows nothing about engines comments about engines. If you knew ANYTHING about cars you would have quickly realized that the parts list was for an SBF, not an SBC.
It wasn't a super hot engine but produced 527hp/562lbft at the flywheel when it was all said and done. It went in a 67 Mustang and while not a monster it was pretty quick for a 17yo's daily driver. 1.6 60 6.9 660 10.3 1/4 with a 141 trap.
During high school I worked M,W,F in Budd Moore's engine shop and T,T,S in Gene Fulton's shop. If you know much about performance domestic engines you will know the names. I learned more about engine building shaking those two men's hands than most dudes will ever know.

I think gas was around a buck a gallon. Not sure. I had a fairly long drive every day and I don’t remember worrying about filling my tank up.

For a dollar, I could get both a Snickers AND a Reese’s. Now I need $2 for one.

Walmart still has 50 cent votes in the vending machines.
I remember $0.87 cent gas having an at the time 30 year old mustang, I went through a lot of gas.
I remeber my first TV was 27" and cost $485 and I paid $399 for a DVD player with speakers.
