$ .25 gas , .59 whopper
When I was pre teen Mom would take us to the movies on Saturday.
Adults .35, kids .25.
She would give us each a quarter and we’d buy popcorn, a coke and a handful of candy.

I can remember buying a six pack of Budweiser and a pack of Marlboro reds with a 5 dollar bill and getting some change back. You can't even get the cigarettes for 5 bucks now but thankfully I quit.
When I was in high school an ounce (Lid) of weed ran 35-40 dollars

When I was a kid, about one Saturday a week, my mother would give my oldest brother a $5 bill.
We'd walk the railroad track to town and get a haircut (crew cuts). Hair cuts were 50 cents.
We'd then go to one walk-in movie and see the double feature. Of major importance, the theater had air conditioning and admission was a nickel.
Then we'd go a couple blocks over and go to the other theater for another double feature. Admission at that theater was a dime.
At both places we'd get popcorn and a coke.
That evening, we'd head home and stop at a drug store and buy baseball cards.
When we got home, my brother would give mother back a couple bucks that were left over.
Popcorn was a nickel, coke a dime, and ball cards a nickel a pack with a slab of Bazooka gum.

That’s a lot further back than me.
I remember gas being $0.299 per gallon, but that was before I was driving.
I could take a girl to eat and to the movies for under $20.00 bucks. That’s not a great meal but it was Pizza Hut, etc.
I remember the TP/ States-Item being a nickel from the vending machine, and local pay phone calls being a nickel as well.
The old man bought a new ‘73 Chevy Impala 4 door hardtop for $2,700.
While we were at the Chevy dealership waiting, I messed with the first VHS player there I’d ever seen. They had individual sales tapes for each model of Chevrolet.
It was a huge top-load player.

I want to say as a freshman in high school I bought a Quarter Pounder with Cheese meal, upsized- made it a large (no super size yet) for $5.15 after taxes. We used to keep the change back then too. Always had some coins in my pockets that wound up in a stack on the washing machine
