But what does Scientific American have to say about obesity?

I'd like to see it broken down by "overweight" vs "obese"
There's so many people who are technically "overweight" BMI wise. I'm 25.1 so technically overweight....but they also say 130lbs for my height is "healthy" and there's just no way.
What percentage of the population do you think is in the 25-27 BMI range compared to the 30+?
Hint most people are fat fricks, not 3 lbs "overweight" on a BMI chart

Fat people are a drain on society. We are all locked down because of the weak and healthcare costs are out of control.
It costs nothing, zero, to not be fat.
Imagine struggling to get in and out of your car, or dying 10 years younger than you have to. Sad.

Its people 15-20 lbs overweight that are soft and gross looking that society now calls "normal". Will wades gross figure is "normal"

There is a way. The normal/standard in the US is so distorted at this point you cannot imagine it.

And no, they aren't "big boned" and odds are they aren't carrying extra muscle mass.

Everyone knew this
It's why any time there was a fear mongering article about a young person who died from China Virus "with no underlying conditions" they were fat as all get out

Good thing hospitals still allowed covid patients to order fast food and unhealthy food off of uber eats, waitr, and doordash and have it dropped up then brought to their rooms by hospital staff.
Which reminds of me of a story. A few months prior to the start of covid, I was working with my favorite attendee and it was lunch time when we were rounding on a morbidly obese (BMI was in the 50s) patient that was back in the hospital for heart failure exacerbation. The patient had ordered lunch for herself and her family from Popeyes and the Uber eats guy interrupted rounds to deliver the food. My attendee stops me from attempting to answer the patient's family questions about why the patient kept coming back to the hospital. My attendee looks at the patient and then at her family and holds up the bags from Uber Eats and says "Eating way too much shite like this is why she keeps coming back in here." Then she just tells us to move onto the next patient.
ETA: Haha it so funny to watch non-healthcare ppl try to argue about BMI and a healthy weight. Yes BMI is far from perfect and it does not adequately take into account muscle mass and bone density. However, it is a quick and easy and reliable risk factor stratification tool for heart disease. If your BMI is 27 yes technically you are overweight but it probably wouldn't hurt to lose a few pounds at that point either. If your BMI is 34 you are fat. There is no way that increased muscle mass and bone density will give you a BMI of 34 unless you are body builder in which case your heart is still having to work extra hard and that is risk factor for heart disease later on in life. If your BMI is 37 or higher you are obese, accept and get in shape. If your BMI is over 40 the you are morbidly obese or as we say on the internet, you're a fatty mcfatass.

Ever wonder how we got to 'wear a mask, socially distance, and shut businesses down' instead of old people protect yourselves and everyone else get outside and lose weight? We are so fricked.
We could have had the biggest public service campaign ever for transitioning to a healthy lifestyle over this past year.
But nope, instead we're giving out free Krispy Kreme if you get the vaccine.

It's quite literally the lowest weight you can be and be healthy and not muscle or protein deprived.
This is one of the most low IQ arguements on this site, and that's saying something

But it does shine a lens on the hypocrisy a bunch of fat fricks that aren't willing to do the single most important thing they could do for their own health but want others to maneuver their lives around their own poor choices. And all this on top of the increasing medical costs we were already incurring prior to covid.
. But it's easy to forget that just about everyone is overweight.

Correct.
Fat acceptance isn’t the gigantic orcas on the cover of Cosmo. Fat acceptance is the 5’11, 200 dude who thinks he is fine, or, if you’re in Louisiana, 5’8, 185 lbs.

Lol get out of here. 6' 185 is not overweight if you lift weights and have some muscle. Bodyfat % is a much more appropriate measure.

Most people are overweight and don't even realize it. I would bet money that 90% of the OT is considered overweight.

Obese, elderly, smokers, and people with pulmonary issues were almost all of it. That and (sadly) the health care teams that treated them without proper PPE last spring.

This is also correct. The young person who passed had “no underlying conditions” except they were 280 lbs and 5’7.

Unless they are old, smoke, or have other issues....they likely aren’t at risk for hospitalization at that weight.
