Any research you would be willing to share?

Never. Hard to understand someone giving it to their children.

Started taking it every week night after listening to the Joe Rogan pod with Dr. Rhonda Patrick.

Probably didn't research extensively enough, but it helps me sleep and I wake up well rested. I do occasionally have some trippy arse dreams though.

My mom is a pediatrician and says you can give to kids but not recommended for long period of time due ot your body making its own natural melatonin.

you sound like a dumbass

I have. I talked to my doc about it. He prescribed trazodone. I still sleep like dung.

Melatonin would only work for a day or two for me.

Decent sleep, crazy dreams, then no help after day two or three.

That shite will knock you out. Just don't take over the prescribed amount or it can keep you up all night. I had some 50 mg tablets once and decided that I needed to take 2 for some reason and I was still awake at 4 in the morning. Of course I decided to look up the effects afterwards and saw that this can be a side effect of taking too much.

I've tried melatonin a couple times - it makes me paranoid. Instead of settling into that comfortable sweet spot just before falling asleep, I get crazy thoughts racing through my mind. If the thought is terrifying enough it wakes me up before I even have a chance to fully fall asleep. It's counter-productive for me.

I take Benadryl
This one does the job though.

ETA: The crazy thoughts just before falling asleep probably have more to do with my having narcolepsy (fricked up sleep/wake cycles) than it does the melatonin alone. I saw someone mention having crazy dreams on it - my dreams often start before I completely fall asleep so I guess this would make sense.

Weird. I've never heard of that reaction. Try some GABA, glycine and ZMA with it.

Kinda funny that you say this because this is the reason that the pediatrician suggested that my daughter take the medicine. She would lay in her bed and get some crazy idea in her head then obsess over it to the point that she wouldn't fall asleep. Melatonin did the trick and never had problems again.

My heart breaks for her. Glad y'all found something that works!
