I waste too much time thumbing through that app like a mindless zombie. After watching The Social Dilemma and The Great Hack, decided it was actually bad for my social health as well. This is probably the best and most efficient way to keep up with who's getting married, who died, who's birthday it is. Nobody keeps other than immediate families birthdays on their calendars anymore. One of my friends picks on me and calls me a social influencer by how I post or comment on posts. I gave up drinking soft drinks and dipping by quitting for Lent and never going back. Here's to quitting FaceSpace and never going back.

Besides, now I'll have more time to shite post on Tigerdroppings.

Apparently you haven't heard that Latoya cancelled Lent.

If you’re not going to completely and totally delete it, you will return to it.

Don’t just do the temporary self-suspension, have it completely deleted. You will feel the weight come off your shoulders

Glad I never had an account. Not sure which is worse, FB or Twatter.

I felt this way 10 years ago when I gave it up. It wasn't until I actually canceled my account that I realized just how much of my life I wasted on there. Congrats on an amazing decision that you will not regret.

Not true. I logged out of mine over 5.5 years ago and I've never been back. I only left it active because of pics of the kid when he was a baby. His mom and grandparents still like to look at them. I completely deleted twitter about the same time.

But otherwise, I agree. SOOOOO glad I'm not on it anymore.

Giving up drinking. Don’t want to. Means I need to.

Was actually planning on deleting Facebook and IG as well

Why don't you give it up permanently? You know, for Jesus or something.

TD is the same thing as Facebook. You’ve given up nothing.

You’re right, it isn’t “totally” true, and you obviously have much more self control than many people. But by not completely deleting it you’re leaving the door open. I will readily admit I have a more addictive personality so it’s better for me to just flat out cut ties completely than leave the door open for a possible return.

You can save the pics and send them to your relatives, you don’t need to keep the Facebook for the pics. I’ll also admit I do somewhat regret not backing up many of my pics, but the decision was made during a dark time so I needed no Avenue for return. Have been much much much better since getting rid of all that bullshite

Not exactly. Facebook actively modifies what you see. It actively pushes content infront of you. It also tracks everything and sells that to everyone.

TD is a message board that doesn’t utilize algorithms to push certain content infront of you. The page and what is “bumped” is entirely left to those who participate, not some algorithm.

You know what they say, giving up Facebook doesn't count unless you go to social media to let everyone know you're giving up Facebook.

I did that for years. Last year, I didn’t turn it back on.
