I assume it probably has something to do with more people being at home on Sunday night than Saturday. How many hit shows do you know air on Saturday night?
Would it really. I would think the Super Bowl is a big enough event that people are still going to plan around the game. I may be wrong though.
What are the typical rating difference for the Saturday playoff games as opposed to Sunday games.

More people are willing to have less plans interfering and willing to watch TV on Sunday night than Saturday.
Also, it shouldn’t matter these days. You shouldn’t be working. You should be staying home, wearing two masks, and waiting on your government check.

Beaucase more people are off of work on Sunday (ratings)

Ratings will suck this year no matter what day.

Because the nfl games are played on Sunday
If that was the answer, then the college football national championship game would be played on Saturday. Try again.

This is the simple answer. Yes football fans will watch whenever it is but they are looking for the people who never watch and are looking for a day when they can capture them which is Sunday.

I've always wondered this about the National Championship being on a Monday
I always assumed the football NC was on a Monday because if it was a Sunday it would interfere with the NFL payments.
No idea why basketball or game 3 of the CWS is on a Monday.

And people are used to the nfl being on all day Sunday in general.

The real question is why isn't the Monday after the Super Bowl a national holiday?
Scrap Columbus day and replace it with that.

Well, the college football championship game is on a fricking Monday night. How the hell did that happen?

Except for the ones on Mondays. And Thursdays. And Saturdays during the playoffs.
shite, and Tuesdays during Covid.

You sure about that one? May be down a bit from previous years but it will still be the most watched television event of the year by about 50 million people

Pro football is played on sundays, so it makes sense to be on Sunday to me.
National championship games on monday dont make any sense to me.

More people at home- more TVs watching- don’t have to compete with NFL if they did it on Sunday.

Is there an advantage to having it on Sunday ratings wise?
Yes. People are more likely to be watching in bars on a Saturday night.

I would much rather recoup on Sunday. The Monday’s after are awful
If employers were smart, they would push back the starting time on Monday for a few hours, especially for non-client facing employees.

Especially having it late in the day on Sunday is terrible. If it was at 2pm it would be much better
Frick that! I would rather a Sat game but If it has to be on a Sunday 6:30 is perfect. Day games don't even compare to night ones. Just like it's hard to get excited for Big 10 football at noon. Yuck

Never have surgery on Monday after the Super Bowl....or after any holiday.
Posted on 2/5/21 at 9:37 am to Clovis Pilgreen
Because Sunday is the highest rated TV night of the week. Everybody is home on a Sunday night. Fridays and Saturdays are the lowest because people are out and about.
Posted on 2/5/21 at 9:39 am to waiting4saturday
Yeah, that's what I figured for Sunday. Don't see why Saturday isn't an option though. NFL and CFB already have that arrangement the rest of the season. Having to take two days off last year to go to the game was my first world problem of the year.

What are you talking about? It rolls right off the tongue just like the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim!
