Fast & Furious, to me, after #4, was ruined by adding Dwayne Johnson as Hobbs, which crippled that series. The series was always over the top, but his inclusion as the FBI superagent was like adding a cartoon character to the series. His constant camera preening, superficial machismo and lack of range in acting, to me, was bad casting. It gave a more comical approach to the script instead of bringing in someone that could have provided a darker, more serious tone. Maybe someone like Idris Elba or Karl Urban.

Sounds like he fits in perfect.

If it wasn't for The Rock the F&F franchise would have ended long ago. Him and Jason Statham brought fresh blood into the F&F movies and are the reason it's still going.

Not a movie series, but the character Nellie Bertram was awful on The Office. She is one of the reasons I rarely watch the post-Michael Scott seasons.

This is an insane take. 5 and 6 are easily the best. And the Rock didn't make the writers turn Vin Diesel into a super human.

All of the first 4, but especially 2 and 3, were heavy on the comical approach.

They pretty well came pre-ruined but Kristen Stewart wasn't a highlight of the "Twilight" movies.

I don’t think the Rock is that bad of an actor. This was the series that started with Vin Diesel.

I agree with your point, but not at 5. 5 wasn’t that much more over the top than 1-4. 6 pushed it. 7 & 8 as well as Hobbs and Shaw really pushed it to a point it was difficult to ignore, so I agree there.

Idris Elba’s character in Hobbs and Shaw is just as over the top Rock’s character.

My vote would be Cameron Diaz in Gangs of New York. She is just fluff and I bet if you cut her out of the entire story, it’d still make sense and be even better of a film.

Tom Cruise ruined Jack Reacher. I'm not saying the Reacher movies were terrible.

But he certainly ruined the series by mis-casting himself.

Edward Furlong almost single handedly ruined Terminator 2 and American History X.

He was such a terrible actor.
