"McConnell about to school Trump on political power for the last time"

The Hill
quote:
Donald Trump had a pretty good run in Washington — rampaging through the Republican Party, driving the media to distraction, enraging the Democrats and treating his own co-partisans in the Senate like a bunch of valets. But that’s all about to end. And I predict it will end with Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) — as the new minority leader — incinerating Trump’s political future for good.
McConnell needs just 18 votes to finish off Trump. Conviction on impeachment can bring with it a ban on holding federal office — which includes the presidency. A two-thirds majority or 67 votes is necessary for conviction. For McConnell that means 18 votes if West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin opposes or 17 if Manchin joins in. (Preferably, McConnell would want to get to 68 votes so that no Republican could be accused of being the one vote that convicted Trump).

Good to know I didn't have to read past the underlined to know that I didn't need to take anything in that article seriously.

How can they even vote on the impeachment with every thing coming out about antifa and John Sullivan

Not sure they can convict a private person? Once Biden is sworn in, he'll become a private citizen.

What disgusting trash. This literally passes for journalism in 2021...

That’s a wish casting on a grand scale.
I guess Trump peed in his Cheerios.
It’s fine to war against someone because they peed in your Cheerios. I’ve done it. Just be honest about why you’re fighting.

The GOP is over for good if they vote to impeach. I won't even vote in their primaries if they do this.

I swear I hear The Hill beating off in the background of this article.

The tone deafness of these people.

I mean....this is like being down 17 with 2 min to play and figuring out the sceanarios to win. When your options involve a 60yd TD onside kick recovery and pick 6/scoop score. Then..you are just kidding yourself. Will there be some R ..i'm sure a couple, but the "friends of_____" is far fetched ( and if done..then a perfect example of how bad DC is) Wyoming GOP just threw down on the #3 GOP in the house for putting herself above the voters...don't think that others didn't notice.

Republican insiders expected 20+ House crossovers for impeachment but only got 10. Dems pushed for a snap impeachment to take advantage of the aftermath of the 6th. It is now being floated that the Senate not take impeachment up until after Biden has his 100 day agenda in place. That seems like a signal that the Senate might just let this die. Trump being acquitted a 2nd time thrust him back into being the center of the political universe.

Establishment Republicans should realize by now that they earn zero political points by siding with Democrats; all Republicans are now the enemy unless they convert to the Democrat Party. Then again perhaps they are all Manchurian Candidates which might explain their ineptitude.

Somebody explained this quite well the other day.
Do 85 million Trump supporters despise the GOPe & Uniparty-YES
The Trump supporters W/O the POS GOPe is divided we fall.
Neither can survive W/O the other. The dems are using CCP tactics to divide and conquer when they join ranks no matter what.

Time to take napalm to the Republican Party. This is long overdue.
