Their president is a joke. I think he also goes by “Dr.”

The kids are fricked.
quote:

Students and teachers will not return to classrooms in Orleans Parish, officials announced Monday, Jan. 4. Schools leaders say the decision was made due to a “very concerning spike in the prevalence of COVID-19 in New Orleans.” School leaders were instructed Monday to move all Pre-K-12 classes to distance learning no later than Thursday, Jan. 7, to give parents, guardians, and families some time to adjust their schedules. NOLA-PS will continue to monitor COVID-19 data and trends and reevaluate this decision no sooner than Jan. 21, in hopes that the local trend in positivity rates and case counts improves. The City’s data tracking the pandemic showed a significant jump in the rate of positive cases over the past few days, indicating a worsening trend -- one of several metrics NOLA-PS considered in order to make this grave but necessary decision.

Kids were dropping like flies so I could see where this would be justified.

Hopefully people see this is the retards in Orleans Parish overreacting and this isn't the first domino to fall for another stay at home spring semester in Louisiana.

A spike while kids are home from school. The only solution...keep them home from school

LOL
I think the positive percentage in Nola is like 6%.

My private school teenager went back today and I hope like hell the private schools stay with in person learning.

So if kids are all at home for school, why are you still paying the same amount of taxes to the school system, if none of the schools are even being used?

If they are in the Orleans system and not going to a magnet like Karr or Ben Franklin, they are probably fricked regardless.

Here in BR my oldest child attends a school of 1200+ students. They have been in person 5 days a week since August. There have been NINE instances of positive COVID tests and ZERO deaths or serious issues.

The bottom line is that the people in charge of public policy in these cities have no desire whatsoever to end this ridiculousness.

There aren’t even goalposts to move anymore, they just pull this shite out of thin air.

“Concerning spike”: no supporting data, no measurements to base their decision on, no stated goal for when it becomes “not concerning”. I feel bad for anyone that doesn’t have the means to go the private route, your new normal is 25-75% virtual. This will never stop.

Meanwhile “Dr.”(lol) Lewis and Destroya’s 8 executive assistants making $100k+ salaries haven’t missed a paycheck, and these people will all be re-elected because of their skin color. (Dr Lewis actually makes a quarter of a million, before kickbacks, for presiding over one of the worst education systems in America).

This country is completely fricked.

Sadly, the “spike” was bound to leads to political decisions disguised as “health care “ concerns.
