I don’t understand why anyone would care what anyone calls themselves.
She earned a doctorate. If she wants to be called Dr. Biden or Mrs. Biden or Miss Biden or even Mr. Biden. Call people what they want to be called. It takes zero effort.
As for the others in this thread, don’t let anyone else’s idiotic misunderstanding of the title undermine anything.
Jill Biden is a teacher and an educator. An educator who continued studying until she earned a doctorate in teaching. She’s not going to be surgeon general nor will she be giving specific medical advice, aside from probably trying to help convince people to wear masks.
She’s a teacher. She kept teaching even during the vice presidency. I think teaching is a commendable profession.
I had an English teacher in high school who had her doctorate and she was totally bad arse. She got paid more than her bachelor and master degrees coteachers and she was probably the best teacher at the school.
The school called her Dr. they were proud that a teacher of her caliber and education committed to that level of education. it took nothing.

I don't know if any of them are lawyers, but if one of Trump's kids called themselves doctor because of a JD, you'd corecctly call them an a-hole. Just as an example.

I don’t know. But we called all of our teachers in university who had PHDs Dr. ____
I only know a few lawyers out of the thousands I’ve met have the stones to call themselves doctor.
My greater point is that Mrs. Biden is a teacher. Never claimed to be a medical doctor. Has no interest in medical advice. And that I respect teaching as a profession. I have no quibble with people with education or merit in their field wanting to be called whatever.
I call my old Coaches, coach. And I’ll call the head chef at the restaurant, Chef. It’s a title. Who cares.
Also I read that article. It was a dumb argument to make.
Distilled: undermine what your career and expertise because your greater role is through your spouse’s work.
Seems like a silly thing to suggest. All First Ladies have their projects and mission. Melania’s was anti bullying. It would not surprise me if Jill’s was education related. There would be nothing wrong and nothing dumb about a woman with a doctorate in education spearheading an education initiative as First Lady. One doesn’t have to be at expense of the other.

The Dr. prefix means they received their doctorate in some random subject. They are supposed to be an expert in their subject area. It doesn't mean they can perform a surgery.
