Weird considering the LA television market and not winning a World Series in 32 years. I know TB isn’t the most exciting brand and television market, but those ratings are awfully low considering how weird and bad of a year 2020 is.

Since when did MLB draw more viewers than the NBA finals? Perhaps it's common but I never would've thought that.

quote:

The finals were averaging 6.71 million viewers after three games and attracted an audience of 7.54 million for game four and 5.7 million for game five. Based on the reported figures, the average viewership across the entire series was just over 6.4 million.

Tampa really helped kill the ratings. Not their fault but nobody cares about them.

How pissed are the NBA and MLB that they couldn't capitalize on their marquee LA team winning the championship?

Living in the Tampa Bay Area, it really seemed like more people were excited about the Lightning winning the Stanley Cup than the Rays being in the World Series. Weirdly enough, this is a southern hockey town.

This is the first year that I didn’t at least follow the World Series in highlights. Also the first time I never tuned in for at least a few innings. I can’t be bothered to care about baseball even just a little bit anymore. SAD.

Because people in Tampa don’t even want to watch the Rays.

And Tropicana Field is the worst stadium in sports, worst than the Oakland Coliseum.

40 million people watched the Cubs win the game 7 a few years ago. 30 + million less people just 4 years later.

The Cavs Warriors game 7 in 2016 drew 31 million.

Its been a rough 4 years for sports.

The 2019 superbowl was also the least watched in 11 years. 4 consecutive years of declining ratings for the superbowl.

Sports seem to have peaked from a TV spectating standpoint.

People really hate watching the Rays if we are being real. We have no real superstars to get behind and are forgotten on sports shows even when really good. Sad but is what it is.

pro sports are just boring to watch.

college football is about the only thing i'm interested in at this point, along with a couple of international soccer tournaments.

and crowds matter. the game just doesn't feel right when limited amounts of fans are allowed in.
