Catholic High baseball field and the "round" damn near cleared the Westmorland lot to Government St. I was impressed.

Damn! That's some distance.

I’ve never in my life even seen a potato gun in person. Sounds cool.

DO you put yours on a tripod? The recoil has to destabilize your wheel chair.

Built one in high school and used a push button bbq pit lighter. Ram spud down with broom handle, unscrew back cap and put a spritz of starting fluid... light and boom that bitch would launch a couple hundred yds. Dented a dumpster at close range.

When I was a kid, you could still find coke cans made of steel....they could be used to make a fine tennis ball cannon using lighter fluid that would launch one out of sight. They'd easily clear the tops of pecan trees around Old River....I was merely a witness.

That was my thought. I suspect you and I may know some of the same people

Had some friends who made one (actually several) in college. Although potatoes are the traditional round, those things will shoot anything you stuff down the barrel. Some annoying girls in the apartment building across from those friends found that out the hard way when the decision was made to send over a wad of peeled crawfish shells via potato gun. The spread was incredible.

Same here. My older cousins who lived in Minnesota taught me about those in the late '70s; they called them "Polish Cannons" (those cousins were half Polish, half-Cajun, what a combo). And they used beer cans and duct tape to make them, and lighter fluid as fuel. Made one myself when I got back to Metairie.

The whole point of potato guns is for the mischief and tomfoolery, who gives a flying shite if it’s illegal. It’s supposed to be fun, I’m not about to tell the gubment I made one

Cleaned out the attic at my parent's house and found my potato cannon from the early 90s. Put in the back of my truck bed and forgot about it. About a month later my truck needs a tow after a transmission failure. Tow truck operator shows up and he is a black guy in his late 20s. He recognized it right away. I was impressed that he knew what it was.
Still don't know what state or federal law says about potato cannons. Doesn't matter to me cause they are fun and I never did anything too stupid with it. Other than firing it at my uncle and dad from about 150 yards away. Didn't hit them but me and my cousin were dying laughing.

I remember the polish cannon a neighbor made when I was a boy. I think he used a tennis ball can.

We built one once. Put a hole through my buddy's fence. We discovered that White Rain hairspray gave us the most bang for the buck.

Brother-in-law gave me mine. Its great for shooting at my kids/nephews when they're on the beach and I'm at the beach house.

Shouldn't be a problem if you've got a decent size back yard. and static guard is our fuel.

It has been probably 25 years since I have seen one of those. They will shoot a baking potato completely out of sight!

I have one in my garage.

If you want to be dangerous wrap a golf ball in toilet paper and cram that bitch down there. I have never found a ball after shooting it.
