If a teenager builds a potato gun out of PVC pipe and uses aerosol (hairspray).. to light it is this legal?

I know if they damage property or shoot it at someone would get them in some legal problems, but I googled this and couldn't find much.

When I was younger I have seen people shoot potato guns, etc, but hairspray wasn't used to shoot it or anything. Anyone know anything about this?

I’ve never in my life even seen a potato gun in person. Sounds cool.

I won’t name any names but there is a certain poster of this site that let someone shoot him with a hairspray powered potato gun.

Psst. Put a mini propane tank on it. Quicker, easier refills.

We have one at our lake place (N Louisiana), I'll shoot 40 lbs of potatoes through it on a good weekend.

It will launch one close to 300 yards and about two feet of fire blasts out of the barrel at night

Good Times

Only for an OT poster, and only if he points it at himself. (Hint, hint.)

Well, I'm pretty sure the "weapon of choice" doesn't matter in these cases. You hurt someone, you are pretty much liable. You damage someone's property, you are pretty much liable.

I really don't think there is a law against "potato guns', but shut the hell up because some do-gooder politician will spend half a session trying to pass a law against them.

IDK...the last time I saw someone shoot an aerosol potato gun I was in high school and it was from the Catholic High baseball field and the "round" damn near cleared the Westmorland lot to Government St. I was impressed.

I know someone that had one... This was 20 years ago. I think the preferred fuel was WD40. It could shoot a russet about 200 yards maybe more with the right angle. It would be lethal to get hit with. Smart kid built it
...he ended up being helicopter pilot in the Air force I think

Was this in 2000-2001? Because I have the exact same experience in the exact same place
