What’s a good first communion gift?

My 8 year old niece is having her first communion this weekend and I’m told a gift is customary. It seems like the gift is supposed to have a religious aspect to it, and not like a Barbie doll.
Is this true? If So what are some good religious gift ideas? I legitimately have no idea. As an atheist, I am completely out of my element here but would like to do the socially acceptable thing and show my niece my support for her.

Godparents do special gifts. Cash and a religious card.

A nice cross necklace or a fancy bible. Or cash

Usually yes, however, if you’re not a Godparent, get her a gallon of bluebell and a gift card to target to buy toys. Screw it!
FTR I’m a Catholic with 4 godchildren.

Anything with a cross on it. Necklace. Earrings. A candle. I would say a rosary, but that's usually what the parents give. Go to a religious store and let them help you.
