Bro if you walk around and look at all the people who are in their 80s and 90s still living life, ain’t none of them fat. There might be some heavier people in assisted living but I bet 99% of all people in their 80s and up are not obese.

Seriously, when was the last time you saw a really fat old person? They just don’t live to see 80.

Without the paper, it's difficult to discern precisely what was studied and the conclusions drawn. A quick Google search only locates this synopsis without citing the actual paper.

Visceral abdominal fat is correlated with higher all cause mortality in men.
Visceral Fat Is an Independent Predictor of All-cause Mortality in Men

Muscle mass appears to be inversely correlated with higher all cause mortality.
Muscle mass index as a predictor of longevity in older adults

Thigh circumference alone isn't necessary an accurate indication fat measure because it doesn't control for fat-free-mass. Waist circumference is a better proxy for fat.

When research is described in mainstream publications, it's frequently misrepresented or simplified such that the description is accurate.

I’m not sure about this... when I go get grandson from bus stop there is this chick that is all of 5 feet tall that has twice the size of arse as a regular car seat and thighs that go on forever(outward). The cottage cheese on that would fill up a whole store full....

Each 10cm increase in hip circumference was associated with a 10 per cent lower risk of all-cause mortality
There has to be missing info here. So if I add 50 cm to my hip circumference I'll have a 50% lower risk of all-cause mortality? I suspect that this data is being manipulated by fatties.
