Who owns that house past Prien Park with the big gold fricking gate and thinks they are some feudal barons with that monstrosity of a home?
I hear like three people live there.
Talk about out pricing the area.

I don't think people have done a good job of educating the public on how hurricanes actually impact locations when they make landfall. The public has a perception of hurricanes being these giant monsters that leave a 300 miles wake of destruction in their path. So someone rides it out 50-100 miles from the center and it's not really that bad so they think it was overhyped.
Agreed. Seems like this can be overcome, just look in the interest in these threads when a storm isnt coming to Louisiana. Public is generally curious about the weather.

Major Hurricane Laura (Storm Track and Satellite on Page 1)
So storm surge question for those that are knowledgeable on storm surge. If you are in vermillion parish, 8 miles north of the beach, what should you expect the storm surge to be. I hear storm surge drops 1’/ per mile, is this accurate. Any other good guidance?
What's your lot elevation?

My family lives in Scott. I am starting to get concerned.
They'll be ok unless they collected half-dead oak trees 30 feet from their house.
