Seems like Laura is finally clearing out the little bit of dry air that was affecting her earlier today. Looks to be closing up now. We'll see if she can start getting the deeper confection wrapped around her center.

Kramer Robertson’s mom is the coach for Baylor women’s b-ball

He is actually in an apartment across Kaliste Saloom from River Ranch. Older place but decent part of town. He wants to show initiative by staying so he can work and pick up shifts to impress management after the storm. Can’t fault the kid.

I can see the track of the storm but is there a way to compare the current ridge to prior model projections to confirm it is moving as intended?
SPC does upper air charts every 12 hours, based in balloon data. You can compare where the heights are to what the models are showing. You'd be looking at 500 mb.

For the record I am concerned about the wobble/north movement as I have a kid at UL who is staying and a camp near Morgan City. Any East movement or the perception of such gets the pucker factor going.
I get it man. If there was reason to think it could get that far east, I'd say so.

they'll up the position update advisories to every two hours or even every hour if a major storm is making landfall
but it's only when landfall is imminent
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Thanks for the info.

Been improving all day but yeah, still more organization than anything. All this sets up the strengthening to come.

Nah, he's still spinning at the coast. Sure he's giving your afternoon storms a little kick.

Actually, yes.
The remnants are there, his last gasping breath.
ETA - maybe misunderstood what cenla means. Still very well could be remnants of outer bands reaching that far

Where can I become informed about the ridge itself? I can see the track of the storm but is there a way to compare the current ridge to prior model projections to confirm it is moving as intended?
Good luck on that crash course.
Model guidance has just now, read today, caught up on the placement and strength of the ridge. With more observations from soundings launched across the southeast, models now have the ridge closer to its actual location. Drastic shifts west, from here on out, are not likely. Also, drastic shifts east are not that likely due to the ridges. What the NHC has is likely pretty close. There will be wobbles in the storm itself as it changes structure, but they will likely just be wobbles.
The point being Laura is likely to have a large eye at landfall, and that large eye wall will impact a large area. Anywhere near that landfall will see major hurricane impacts including storm surge and high winds. In the grand scheme of things, with this storm, "slight" shifts east or west won't matter a whole lot. Impacts will be dangerous all around it.

Levi says that while it appears to be trending north this is just reorganization and westward shift more likely than east if anything
Well it needs to take that westward track soo. The more north it moves the more concerned I get here in Geuydan

That’s fricking stupid. Another case of putting people in a more dangerous situation to protect them from something that isn’t that dangerous
He said it in yesterday’s press conference. I did t hear it but was told this.
