Will we have better idea of what it is going to do once it gets past Cuba?

We'll have a better idea of where it's going once it makes landfall

Like I said earlier, the fact of the matter is that storm surge and rainfall are the killers. If you’re not prone to either of those, staying in Maurice for a direct hit on Pecan Island is incredibly unlikely to endanger your health.

But if you have kids, can they handle it, especially at night? How long can you stomach little to no utilities? Those questions drive most evacuations, as they should.

Worried about a camp flooding.

Hard to keep up with all the speculation in this thread. All this talk of Houston landfall and it weakening is giving me false hope.

There's three things to look out for: storm surge, river flooding, and falling trees. If I'm not at risk for those three and I'm not in a mobile home I'm staying.

I continue to be fascinated by how far inland this thing is supposed to hold together.

I would imagine 70+ MPH gusts in Shreveport would be pretty unprecedented. Rita is the strongest i can remember.

I would appreciate if you didn’t mislead others with this kind of rhetoric
