Just yesterday these two storms were supposed to impact SE La, boom boom, one right after the other which never made sense. Now the timing gap has widened significantly.

It's so difficult to forecast these storms.

Not happy about Laura's forecast tho.

I continue to be fascinated by how far inland this thing is supposed to hold together.

I would imagine 70+ MPH gusts in Shreveport would be pretty unprecedented. Rita is the strongest i can remember.

The speed Laura is moving is the reason for that. There also isn't much to slow it down after landfall, so it will take a while to wind down.

Vermilion Tiger, my neighbor who works at the Police Jury made a good point for my situation -- if we leave the parish, we may not be able to get back in ... my husband will be needing to get back asap to check on bins/rice in bins/equipment.

So for us tards... what does that mean?

It means Marco needs to move out of the way so the high pressure ridge can move in an cock block Laura.

Marco may not even hold together long enough to make landfall which means the whole back to back landfalls won't even happen. It was a fun week of fear porn tho.

That's an ensemble product. They run at a lower resolution than the operational (the Euro, GFS, UKMet you see referenced) and make changes to the initial positions, conditions around it, slight changes in how the model handles convection and physics assumptions, ect.

The idea is to create a spread of possible outcomes.

CMC (Canadian) ensembles - basically take the current conditions and make some minor tweaks to see what possible differences it may make. Not as good as the CMC run that’s trying to be right, but as a group, the ensembles may provide a better idea of the potential solutions.
