When I bought my first house, the previous owners left a copy of this little book.

It's from 1890 and one of the most racists things I've ever seen. We still have it buried in a box somewhere (Which I guess is a great metaphor for real racism...)

I graduated in 94 from Pineville and yeah- they're still the Rebels. For now. There's a big movement underway at this very moment to get rid of the name. We'll see if it lasts.

I graduated in 89. I lived in Pineville from 74 to 91, but haven't been back in over 20 years.

One day I told my kids how we used to go “N” knocking and they looked at me like crazy. It wasn’t until that day that I even realized it bc it never had anything to do with race. We just knocked on any door.

Slip your mind they were aghast at the very racist name you called it?

The activity isn't racist.

From childhood? I am old enough to remember Amos and Andy. Everyone thought that was hilarious entertainment back then, even the black people.

I loved Colonel Reb and they took him off the field in 2003 when I was 12 years old. They took away Dixie while I was a student at OM. Banned Colonel Reb logo from merchandise while I was there too.

I'm an LSU guy (obviously), but I definitely find it sad what has happened at Ole Miss. ALL children loved "Colonel Reb"- they just saw him as a funny character who made them smile. It's always the supposed adults who screw things up for them.

When I was a student at LSU way back in the 80s, I remember the year Ole Miss upset LSU in TS (1986)...We stuck around after the game to wait out traffic (and sober up ). The Ole Miss end zone celebration included players waving a few small rebel flags handed to them by the fans. Yes- some of the players happened to be black. Everyone in that crowd seemed quite happy. Times have indeed changed.
