I did read it an saw that. That has nothing to do with this situation, though. Take emotions out and lay out the facts.
this is clownish, man. we're talking about the facts. the fact that this guy is a documented con man is certainly relevant and would be so in any civil suit.

On May 23, Copper Stallion Media reportedly posted a photo of the couple to its Facebook page on what would have been their wedding day — adding insult to injury, according to the Denver Channel.
“Today would have been the day where we would have filmed Justin and Alexis’ wedding. After what Justin pulled with the media stunt to try and shake us down for a refund we hope you sob and cry all day for what would have been your wedding day,”
This company deserves all the negative PR it gets. If it goes out of business, I won't be upset at all.

I'm with the video company on this one as it pertains to the money.
But as a business, doing right by the customer, it kinda seems like a no brainer to toss the contract out the window in this specific situation. They don't have to, but sometimes a business needs to just think logically for a second, and they did not do that here...of course then they took it up another 50 or so notches the wrong way.

buy the videographer's domain name, and replace it with a message saying "This is where my website would've been, but I went broke because I'm a sadistic, brainless cocksucker. Life's a bitch."
Man, I want this to happen soooo bad now.

But this right here was beyond fricked up. I sincerely hope that company receives a lot of negative press from this situation, forcing them to lose out on so many potential customers and eventually going bankrupt. I'm still on disbelief that they openly said that for the public.
Exactly right. That post was just fricking petty and extremely cruel. I hope they're forced out of business.

I would have definitely sided with the no refund aspect
I'm guessing if any of us were the videographer in this situation, we'd probably be giving that money back based on circumstances.

Or did the guy realize his business was fricked anyway, so decided to go out guns blazing

I mean, you're not wrong, but it's still bad PR. The "pick your battles" phrase exists for a reason. Is this the battle you want to pick?
And one guy's trying to get out of a contract. The other's taunting someone about his dead fiance. There are just two different levels to this.

Here's the deal: The wedding industry is probably one of the industries where customer service, good will, and word of mouth matter the most.
What SHOULD have happened here is the videographer should have gone out of his way to work with him and let him know that they can do a partial refund, and do more of a refund if they are able to rebook the date. A contract is a contract, but a little bit of goodwill goes a long way.
If that wasn't good enough for the groom, they could have explained their side of it in a logical way and hope that most people understand.
Have some compassion in a situation like this.
But the owner is a complete psychopath conman that has grifted in multiple states.
He's a world class piece of trash.

e key word there is 'overreaction'. Most people have stated that their issue is not with the policy but with the overreaction (put mildly) of the videographer.
The company's poor judgement has been well covered. My problem is everyone giving the crazy guy a pass on extortion. That is NEVER justifiable. He was trying to take away someone else's business and livelihood because of something that happened to him and that other party had nothing to do with.
I hope he is held accountable, too.

The crazy thing is that people are trying to give the party that committed a crime a pass and the party that did not commit a crime is getting pulverized.

A crime? A contract dispute isn't a crime.
The other part's getting pulverized for being a massive a-hole to an extremely sympathetic person in a public forum.
