This is a goddammed farce. The longer he waits the more the media will push to hold down the economy. ‘O look. The numbers aren’t bad. We need to still quarantine.’

I'm shocked that so many of you blame the media for any of this. Trump is the President of the United States and has literally complained about the media daily for the last 3.5 years. Why would he be taking the actions he's taking now if he didn't believe in it?

Trump was trying to keep everyone cool. He’s a numbers guy not an epidemiologist. The media has convinced the world the plague is upon upon us. We are counting a new variation of the common cold and the old people dying of pneumonia. The WORLDWIDE death count may crack 15k. This is a farce.

Trump needs to show Pence the and the two globalist Clinton Dr leftovers. the door. I have had enough of the fear mongering.

We are doing exactly what Trump and the task force are saying to do. They are holding daily press conferences saying how bad things are and the need to shutdown.

I’m sorry the economy is suffering, but if you think this is a farce, you need to take it up with POTUS.

We have hospitals already without enough medical supplies as it is. Projections say NY needs another 55k hospital beds to keep up with future demand (as in by next month).

Right now the death rate is low because our hospitals for the most part are not over run.

Let this thing loose and the mortality rate will jump up a few percentages and it will not end well.

If you believe that is the case then your issue is with Donald Trump not the media. The media isn't in charge of policy and they aren't forcing Trump to tell everyone how serious this is on a daily basis.

Well if it gets bad, he then just committed political suicide.

Pretty clear he wants to give it a few weeks, get our house in order and proceed from a point of strength instead of barrelling into an abyss that could overrun the health care system.

Crazy thought — maybe we haven’t cracked 15k deaths because what we are doing is working???

I’m not commenting on the overall theme of this thread, but those same projections said hospitals would be overrun by Covid patients by March 22nd and that didn’t come close to happening

Why? An estimated 20000-70000 died in the flu outbreak. Where was the clamour from the Media? Too busy trying to railroad the President?

I for one don't think they are lying but I really want to know the information they are using to feed these models. If the models are wrong, this wouldn't be the first time scientists have botched it (global warming anyone?).

That’s the world. Asia. Africa. Third world mfers. Open your eyes. If you add up China, Italy, Iran, and Spain’s deaths you account for 90% of the worlds deaths. It will end this week and not because of quarantine. It’s be because all of the old or sick people who die from pneumonia will already be dead.

I agree that we've gone overboard, but with the numbers jumping everyday due to more testing, it would look idiotic to say it was "over".
