This is a goddammed farce. The longer he waits the more the media will push to hold down the economy. ‘O look. The numbers aren’t bad. We need to still quarantine.’

You do realize that our medical professionals are already reusing masks and shite? Every person that I'm talking to is saying that they have a terrible supply issue.

This is all to keep them from getting slammed.

Or maybe a large part of the 25k flu deaths in the last 5 months were covid 19 and we assumed it was the flu.

Then china happened and it blew up..they had millions on lockdown and people taken away from homes screaming..

It’s bull shite. We haven’t cracked 15k deaths WORLDWIDE. How long to you want watch these numbers drift?

China, if you can believe their numbers, basically bolted people’s doors shut and literally tore up roads with bulldozers so that nobody could get in or out of towns.

Should we do that here?

I think the government went into CYA because the media was going to put any deaths on them. Trump is a money man. Real estate. He’s not an epidemiologist or a doctor. He’s got advisors and the news in his ear saying could be 20k, 200k, 2 million. He folded because he wasn’t sure there wouldn’t be an epidemic.

I agree that we've gone overboard, but with the numbers jumping everyday due to more testing, it would look idiotic to say it was "over"

As cases jump. Death rate plummets. If we had a true count it would be obvious that this virus is not that deadly. It’s going to be about 0.1% in the end.

This whole Flu argument really makes it easy to separate the people who aren't worth trying to reach.
That said, I'll help you out. The issue with Covid 19 is the rate at which the infected require hospitalization and intensive care in order to survive. If we treat this a business as usual cold or Flu (even tho we have no vaccine or antivirals) then the high infectivity will overwhelm hospitals which will lead to severe outcomes for both covid 19 patients and others who need ICU beds for any other reason.

It isn't that hard once you take your head out of your arse.

Trump isn't doing this, he's leaving it up to the discretion of each state. If you don't agree with that then you're not a conservative.

If this were a farce, would Trump (a guy who is pretty skeptical of many things and people) risk the economy, which is his biggest political tool?

Supply issue does not mean deadly pandemic. Busy doctors does not mean deadly pandemic.

It’s only political suicide because people think we have a pandemic. We do not.

We have hospitals already without enough medical supplies as it is. Projections say NY needs another 55k hospital beds to keep up with future demand (as in by next month).

The hospitals are being told to say that. It's proven there was a directive sent out.

If the frontline health care workers don't have the necessarily supplies to protect themselves and treat the sick then it is going to lead to a lot of unecessary deaths. I am not talking about people who just have covid...people who have heart attacks, strokes, car accidents will suffer because the system is overwhelmed.
