Because they need a female voice to to tell a mostly white male audience they are always wrong and to subvert expectations through film.
The reason TLJ failed was becasuse there was too much manliness from Rian Johnson that screwed up KayKay's near perfect vision of the force is female.

People forget that just because the sequels sucked doesn't make the prequels better. They only got saved story-wise by leaving the room to space out in books comics and games.
The ST didn't give themselves that room so it's going to be harder to redeem. Even all the TV shows are PT or orbiting the OT.

I would say he's done Marvel intensely for a while. Feige probably needs some new pastures to graze. Put him in charge with Favreau, Filoni, Chow, Waititi, and Famuyiwa under him and I'm fine.
After the first season of the Mandalorian they know who has the shite and who doesn't.
Hell, I'd give him carte blanche to ignore the Disney+ sequels and do a trilogy of Luke Skywalker trying to bring balance to the Force after Han and Leia have passed away.
