What Iger has done for Disney will make him go down as one of the best CEO’s ever. What they acquired under him is mind blowing, their stock his skyrocketed and Disney is making more money than ever. Star Wars May have its flaws for sure, but Iger is one of the GOATs in terms of running a company.

Please let this happen.

I’m opposed to this, not because I believe he wouldn’t do a good job (he would be exceptional at it), I just don’t want him to give up the MCU shepherd gig to anyone else. Late Dave Filoni be the point man for Star Wars. He gets, he loves it, and he’s already doing the work on the micro.

shite like this is why people get mad over SJW being injected into movies/etc....it's how a terrible movie like TLJ gets made.

Hard pass.
Feige needs to stay on at MCU and let Dave Filoni run Star Wars.
Filoni is the perfect candidate that can win and keep the trust of the fanbase and attract as wide an audience as possible with great Star Wars stories.

Slow down there little fella. Under Iger Disney doesn't own any of the overseas theme parks, with the exception of recently repurchased Paris, which was struggling so bad that Disney could afford to buy it.
They paid $4 billion for Star Wars, plus the additions to the theme parks cost $2B, Their five SW movies have made $4B. Which means with distribution costs, they still haven't made any money. Plus the merch is stagnant due to the reaction to the movies.
He's retiring next year, and if he doesn't fix Star Wars before then, his legacy will be a mix bag between the success of Marvel and the squandering of Star Wars potential.

If they haven’t broke even on Star Wars they are damn near it. TFA merch brought them a mint.

I don't know what calculator you're using, but their five SW movies have grossed $5.8B. Granted they probably could have done better if the TLJ wouldn't have been so terrible.

Not sure what part of the country you're from, but here in TI-80 country, there is a thing called production costs. Those 5 movies cost anywhere from $200M to $375M each to make.
So while they may have grossed that amount, they still haven't covered their initial investment in profit. And when you factor in the $2B in theme park additions, Disney will be in the hole for a while because of Kathleen Kennedy's arrogance.

Star Wars merchandise had its best year in 2016 with $700M in sales, not profits. Disney has licensing agreements with companies like Mattel and Hasbro, so Disney is only profiting a portion of that $700M.
Then in 2017 Star Wars merch dropped significantly, and many items were not moving off the shelf anymore. Plus there are sales targets that must be met, in order for Disney to make any huge profits on those licensing agreements.

Millennium Falcon Star Wars Play Set – Star Wars Toybox
was $79.95 now $32.98 @shopDisney
quote:
Star Wars E9 Action Figure
$12 sale was $15 20% off @JCPenney
quote:
Star Wars The Black Series - Centerpiece Rey (Starkiller Base)
$19.95 was 49.99 @Amazon
Looking at the numbers vs the potential that was out there, the only reason Kathleen Kennedy hasn't been fired yet is that Iger is afraid of her screaming sexism to the press. So if he does fire her, she has to be replaced with a woman.
He's a pretty spineless in that regard.

You really can't spin that Star Wars is currently successful.
Prior to the Disney takeover and ST, this was a moneymaking machine.
Outside of the movies, you had tons of books, video games, models, etc that were very hot.
Now: the games are 'meh' at best, nothing approaching the old Battlefront must-haves.
Models- people want the OT stuff, and to a small part the sequel stuff. NOBODY wants any of the ST stuff.
Merchandise- probably the only hot item since Disney took over has been Baby Yoda... and they didn't have that ready. Nobody wants a BB-8, nobody wants any of the bugeyed birds or stuff like that.

Now that Favreau has set the tone with the Mandelorian, Feige is ready to step in.
Deja Vu.

Your numbers are way the hell off dude. I mean you aren’t even in the ballpark with your chicken little numbers.
Yeah I get, Kathleen Kennedy has made some dookie arse decisions creatively. There is no denying that. However, Disney is getting revenue hand over fist with Star Wars. They didn’t buy the IP to make a quick buck. They bought it for what it will do for the next 20 years.
Hell they’ve made over $100 million in The Mandalorian merch (profit, not gross) and they haven’t even released much of anything yet. Baby Yoda plushies hit the shelves this April and WalMart and Target have seen preorders in the millions each for them already. 4 months out and they have several million orders for a $30 stuffed toy that cost $5 to make.
But yeah the House of Mouse is basically Sears.

Someday everyone. Kennedy has to leave at some point...
Abrams is the one to blame for Star Wars.

Kennedy's contract is up next year in 2021. As soon as I saw reports that Disney was talking with Feige about a position at Lucasfilm, I definitely thought it was likely he'd take over when her contract is up. This just helps support that.
Hopefully it's true. Kennedy is good at a lot of things when it comes to film making but the way she chose to dive into a Star Wars trilogy that never had any form of a 3 plot story arc from the beginning is inexcusable and proves she's not equipped to lead something like this. With Feige being clearly the opposite in crafting the MCU, he's the perfect guy to take over. The MCU is so well established in what it is now that it doesn't need him as much anymore.

Didn’t take into account the Star Wars park. Still. They have made a lot of money in the first few years. It will be profitable
