I feel like this is going to lead to a generation of negative sentiment toward China and rightfully so.

You are right and it's a shame too. There simply was no good reason for China to handle things like they did. I can see where they wouldn't want us sending a government agency like the CDC in to help but they could have been honest with what was happening in Wuhan so that people like Donald Trump would have taken this thing more seriously in the beginning. Nobody would have been upset with them if they would have been transparent. In fact, the world would have extended a big hand of help and let them decide whether they wanted to accept it or not.

Even if they did feel a little backlash over the virus originating there, reporting the truth was the right thing to do. How many lives in a place like Italy could have been saved if they had known the truth?

I'm curious how Covid ended up being detected in those patients or patients like them? Was it through imaging or something else? How would imaging a broken hip result in seeing junk in the lungs?

CXR for chest pain or SOB and almost everyone who hits the ER gets a CXR anyway...

Preop chest x Ray for broken hip I’d presume

It's not a shame at all. I've been waiting for nearly two decades for the rest of the country to see China for the little shits that they are. I wish nothing but death on Xi and his fellow ChiComs. May their deaths be long and painful.

The research, published in the medical journal The Lancet Infectious Diseases, estimated that about 0.66% of those infected with the virus will die.

The study says mortality rate for young people is lower than the Flu and the same for middle age people. It is only more dangerous for old people.

This study was also based on data from before medications were being widely used.

As someone that loves my parents, this doesn't excite me.

As someone who has parents and loves them, but also recognizes the significance of a disease that was equally as deadly across all age groups, this greatly excites Scruffy.

That isn’t a condemning of an age group.

It is a recognition that this isn’t a species ender.

Too bad old people are stubborn and/or stupid to be able to actually quarantine as a whole.

People are REALLY resistant to the reality of the Chinese Communist Government because they are blinded by the capitalism and the tourism. I have pointed out incontrovertible FACTS on the political board for years and people just don’t want to believe things that are easily confirmed.

Furthermore, leaving their political system aside, even Chinese CULTURE should be prepared for a barrage of constructive criticism after all this has passed. You can’t have wet markets and harvest dog meat and subsidize the massacre of African wildlife and hide from the microscope of civilization forever. It’s time to confront them on the Cultural level and shame the hell out of them for being such poor stewards of animal life.

And that is not limited to China. It extends to much of Asia. Thailand, Vietnam etc have a lot to answer for as well.

If I was 80 plus and fought in Vietnam or similar I probably wouldn’t give a frick either. I could just as easily die walking the course in the heat this summer

It's all because of Mongolia. China was, multiple times, the edge of civilization, and then the step people came down and burned it all to ground.
Middle east, same story, altho they were just burned down once and gave up. So the next time you have Mongolian beef, remember you are supporting covid.
