Read through several pages and missed it if anyone said Steele from Auburn. Gus has been on the hot seat season-in - season-out. LSU might mean both more money and more stability.

Chizik might be a good pic. All the recruits have seen him on SEC channel, was a solid DC, and knows the SEC and teams very well.

OP, please add David Reeves (UAB) to the list
Yes Please. I want this guy. Young, can coach, and his defenses are aggressive and attacks. He has coached against competition on his teams level. Give this guy some dogs and let him turn them loose.

Neil Farrel was 6’4 292 when he got here and guess what? He jumped up to 315 to be a 3-4 DE.
First of all he might be listed at 315 but he's not 315 and he actually needs to get down to around 290 to be a better 3-4 DE
In today's game your 3-4 DEs should be about 285 and be able to rush the passer with your NT being 315+
In a 4-3 the 2 DTs should be 300+ with one DE being in the 270 range and one being in the the 250-260 range and really athletic

Not true you don’t even realize there’s a 2 gapping 3-4 and one gapping 3-4. 2 Gap requires for bigger bodies all across to eat up blocks. One gap uses smaller pass rushing defensive ends like you mentioned. Also in the 4-3 there’s a Strong side end that can be in the 280-290 range. That’s how Saban ran it. Both of the ends do not have to be in the 260 range.
Cameron Jordan for the Saints is one of the leagues best defensive ends in the 4-3 and he’s 6-4 285 and opposite of him is Marcus Davenport who is 6’6 265. Like I said one strong side end and one more athletic. They do not have to be mingo size.

I really like the idea of Kris Richard. Young energetic guy that will relate well to players. Has history now with developing the great DBs at Seattle and has spent time with Dallas. He did take the reins as DC for 3 years at Seattle and Dallas was grooming him to be the next Cowboys' DC. They were letting him call the D a lot in Dallas.
His west coast connections wouldn't hurt with recruiting either.

Just read it from a guy I follow on FB. Didn’t hear it from USC board. Lol. Do you think Kris Richard would be a bad hire? I personally think it would be pretty damn solid.

He ran it 17 years ago. Let me know how many teams ran the spread/rpos back then? How many true DT QBs played back then?

Cam Jordan is a freak. The only player we will have on this team that is maybe even comparable is J. Roy
I don't know why we are even arguing about this because most DCs run multiple fronts and we are in nickel and dime most of time

so what. Aranda doesn't like it either.
There is doesn't like and there is hating! I will remind you that Aranda was listed as a recruiter on 8 signees in this class. Good luck on Strong doing that. I will stick with my statement..I'm sure you will stick with your opinion.

Pelini gave up 50+ twice in 2007 to Arkansas and Kentucky. No thanks. Revamp our D like Brady did the O.

Richard wouldn’t be a bad hire, but he’s not who I want.
He didn’t coach up shite at Dallas this year. And that Dallas defense had a lot of talent to work with.
I like David Reeves or Morgan Scalley.
Obviously Jim Leonhard also, but I don’t think he’s leaving Wisconsin

Make them pay serious money.
I don't see why you don't go down a list of current top DCs and make them all get huge contracts.
I feel like LSU could be able to poach an elite current DC.

The only thing that sucks is that our season ran so long that we are definitely behind the 8 ball to pick up a DC

As would any team that goes 15-0 winning the Natty and being considered the best team ever. Would you rather have gone 9-4 so we could have picked new assistants earlier. Some of you....

It would be a homerun IMO. But people on here hate the cowboys so much they will dislike it.
