For those in the DFW area, Channel 33 television is going to show the game 2 PM Saturday. But of course you can still see real time on CW33.com today at 7 PM.
Many of us said the right thing to do was to try to get King the grad transfer from Houston and he seemed to be interested. What does LSU have now...an UNPROVEN 4th year roster player who had more career INTs than TD passes coming into this season and a 60% completion % which is meh these days...especially when all he ever did was mop up duty. And who are the backups...2 TR FR. You honestly think LSU is fine at QB? :spank: I repeat if Brennan looks as bad as he did last week (holding the ball too long, making poor choices for targets, not seeing wide open receivers, etc), then he should not start the 2nd half of the game.
I don't know much about Toles but McGlothern IMO was the MVP in the HS All Star game he played in. He had 2 INTs and almost a 3rd. The guy is big enough and fast and what I noticed is he anticipates where the ball will be/good football instincts. Dwight McGlothern should be out there right now as a TR FR unless there is an injury issue. He would be a huge upgrade to the secondary I saw vs Miss St.

I don't think too many people considered LSU a real player for AM. It has pretty much been a Clemson vs Texas battle from the beginning IMO.

Todd Harris won't be drafted. IMO, he isn't even a starting caliber SEC safety.
Agree with you about Nussmeier and Johnson. People need to quit using Burrow as the comparison. That guy is the next Tom Brady in the NFL. To quote the famous philosopher Happy Hogan in Spiderman Far from Home to Peter Parker. "You're not going to be the next Iron Man. No one can replace Tony". But the starting QB should be decently competent and not look lost out there. IF Brennan plays the same way vs Vandy in the 1st half, he shouldn't be the QB in the 2nd half. PERIOD!

I didn't make a mistake.

Yes you did make a mistake and Evans GOT a scholarship and he sure as hell WAS RECRUITED as a grad transfer WITH a scholarship. I did not attack you personally. I said you made a mistake and for some reason won't admit it. LSU has 3 CBs who never should have been recruited and more than 2 guys who are 3* (or lower). Since you called names first (rantard), I will counter with lying a-hole!
quote:

LSU has 2 3* corners on the Roster. Thats a fact.

No, it is NOT a fact. LSU has 2 3* CBs on the roster AND a guy who isn't even a 3*. A "Not rated" player is below 3* status. Thus, your original statement is wrong, NOT a fact. BTW, I don't have to be a genius to point out YOU made a mistake and apparently don't want to admit it. Evans is not a walkon which might have given you a pass. LSU ACCEPTED Evans and gave him a scholarship...'nuff said.

Don’t forget about #7 BJ Allen the LSU commit playing safety

Good catch!!!! I don't keep up much with 2022 commits...I'm concerned about 2021 future signees. But yeah, Allen is rated almost exactly equivalent to Earle except of course he is a safety while Earle is a WRer. Great to have commits on BOTH sides of the ball...wasn't too interested in Flower Mound Marcus when Dallas Jesuit had the ball.
quote:

Yes. Thats still only 2 3*s.

I didn't count Evans because he shoudldn't be out there. That was a desperation grab by the staff.

Even if he's a 0*, he isn't a 3*. Which is the context of the post.

You are now dubbed "Pretzel Man" because you twisted yourself all over the place trying to spin and make excuses for a nonsense/false claim. Psst, a guy not rated at all is WORSE than a 3*. So once again, your statement that LSU has only 2 3* on the roster is bogus! Admit you screwed up and move on. Oh, and "I didn't count Evans because he shouldn't be out there." Seriously????
quote:

There are only 2 3* Corners on the roster.

2 5*s
2 4*s

Nope, not true. Ward and Flott were 3* and Evans wasn't even rated. Let me guess...that still only makes 2 3* huh? I will also mention due to early departures and tranfers, LSU is short on corners to begin with.
Here we go again :nana: ... this time with JoJo Earle the high 4* WR committed to LSU from Aledo, TX. His HS game will be on CW33.com site as linked below. The game is Friday Oct 2nd at 7PM and MIGHT also be live on CW33 TV station in Dallas for those DFW people.

We need to keep this bumped up on the recent post page until Friday night.
Seriously? You don't think being at LSU for 3+ years means he shouldn't hit the ground running. Like I have said, MANY times I have seen QBs who have thrown fewer passes than Brennan and shorter time on their squad than Brennan and didn't even know they were going to play (i.e. starting QB got hurt during the game), and they actually look like they have played QB before. The expectations were NOT to be Burrow...the expectations were to have a decent arm, decent speed, not double clutching and triple clutching/holding the ball too long, and actually being able to see wide open receivers. If you didn't expect that from a RS JR QB, you set the bar way, way too low.
Yeah, what some people discount is the exhaustion of the defense. Yyyyyyeeeessss, the defense could have made Miss State go 3 and out more but on the other hand IF the offense could have made some first downs at all in the first quarter and a half, the time of possession wouldn't have been 2 to 1 as it was late in the first half. The defense was basically on the field the first half because Brennan couldn't complete any passes of note. As we remember, it took a long time for LSU to score their first offensive points. Since it was Cox that scored the first points for LSU on the pick 6.
quote:

relax y’all. Brennan will come around. Gotta work on read progression and getting the ball out earlier. Gonna be more difficult than normal especially for a new QB...no OOC scrubs to tune up against.

Wow, I didn't realize scanning the field was so easy. And my God, the guy has been in the program for 4 years. I think the car has been in the shop quite long enough {"tune up}. Every week, QBs with less experience than Brennan enter games due to injuries, sickness, disciplinary issues or whatever with starting guy. They for the most part look like they have played the game of football before!
First, LSU should have signed King from Houston if he wanted to come here....period! His time at Houston proved he is a quality QB. Second, there are way too many excuses being made for Brennan...OL, first start, etc. The guy has been around forever. And the OL doesn't cause him to be slow as molasses in his movement. The OL didn't cause him to double and triple clutch. The OL didn't cause those long completed passes to be very late and underthrown which shows he doesn't have much of an arm. The OL didn't cause him not to see wide open receivers who were waving their arms in the air on multiple plays where he ate the ball. There is no defense of Brennan's performance. And his stats look better than they should because that TD pass to Gilbert 95% of the time would have been an INT. Gilbert showed poise beyond his years to "intercept" a ball the CB was just waiting to intercept.

If he continues to show the lack of QB fundamentals (admittedly he can't raise his arm strength or become a track star but the other things) and he has a bad first half against Vandy, then Johnson or Finley should be brought in for some series. I know that Johnson is an athlete and can run...seen his HS footage. If he can't pass, well, Brennan can't either so that's a wash.
Obviously would be a nice to get but LSU already has on the roster for NEXT season Stingley, Ricks, McGlothern, and Toles for the secondary. Only Ricks played yesterday I think. Also already committed is Wiggins and hopefully LSU should get Ryan. I will say that the ones who played CB specifically yesterday proved they aren't SEC corners....Flott, Ward, and Evans.
quote:

Brennan did enough to get a win, this lost is on the defense, plain and simple.

You weren't watching the game I was watching. Even as bad as the pass coverage was, LSU could have still won the game by making first downs and more scoring on offense. He missed open receivers all game long. You could see guys waving for the ball on some replays. And I guess you are giving him credit for that TD on a ball that never should be have thrown where the CB was waiting to intercept it but Gilbert cut in front of him even though the ball wasn't even coming to him. Brennan left a LOT of plays on the field with all his shortcomings...pure and simple. Also, on his two longest completions, the balls were thrown late and short..the WRers did a superb job of fighting for the balls after the CBs caught up.

Crossing routes can't be stopped playing man-to-man. The route itself creates separation.

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried this and would this work. Sort of the opposite of a box and one in basketball where they have 4 playing zone and one playing man to man. Keep everyone in the back 7 playing man to man if you wish except one guy. I would nominate Cox who has speed and ball skills. Put him in the middle about 12 yards past the LOS and see how those crossing routes work then. My guess is...not so much.
Or maybe he was benefitting a lot more on safety help etc. I will just say this...the ONLY CB I trusted completely "on an island" last season was Stingley. Vincent a little bit and Fulton some. I remember Fulton for example getting called quite a bit for holding/PI but obviously good enough to be NFL drafted. But the rest who played, not really much at all.
